ME 313 MACHINE DYNAMICS AND VIBRATIONS

Objective:
This course is expected to enable the student to:
1. Impart knowledge on dynamic analysis by analysing dynamic forces in mechanical
systems
2. apply balancing of mechanisms to mechanical components and Familiarize with
gyroscopes
3. understand the operation and applications of braking systems, dynamometers, and
clutches
4. Familiarize with mathematical modelling and analysis of mechanical vibration in
single-degree-of-freedom systems.

Course Outcome:
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to
1. Evaluate the dynamic forces and centrifugal governors.
2. Analyse balancing problems in rotating and reciprocating machinery and gyroscopic
effects in ships and road vehicles.
3. Recognize the operation and engineering applications of braking systems,
dynamometers, and clutches.
4. Examine the dynamic equilibrium for free and forced vibrations of single degree
freedom systems
5. develop an ability to design brakes and clutches
