BANKS

Every person has a bank account, where they keep their money, what they save. If we need
a loan (hitel), we can get a loan from the banks. We have to repay this loan with interest
within a specified (meghatározott időn belül) time. For example, we can take out a home
loan from a bank. There are many places where we can exchange money if e.g. we want to
travel abroad and cannot pay with our own currency. We can also do our banking online. It's
much easier and faster. Nowadays, if we want to transfer money to another bank account, it
happens right away, we don’t have to wait days for the amount to go. You can also open a
bank account at bank (e.g. for children, adults, young adults) and they can help us with a
lot of other things. But there are people who keep their money at home, because they don’t
want to put it in the bank, even though the money is bearing interest (kamatozik) inside,
because they are afraid of bankruptcy or a bank robbery. It’s a disadvantage for example,
that there are cases, when the banks want to force a home loan or a student loan on us, even
though we don’t need that. In the bank works bankers and other employees. There are so
many people, who want to rub out us and steal our money, so they want to know our
bank details and personal details. So we need to be careful and we shouldn’t say our
passwords and codes to anyone.

SAVING MONEY

We can save money by buying only the things we need (food, drink, clothes) and not buying
anything unnecessary (szükségtelen, toys, snacks). If we want to save our money, we open a
bank account, where our money is safe and has interest rate (kamat). In addition, there are
people who e.g. keep their money at home in envelopes, or who have more bank accounts
(több bankszámla).

We can earn money, if we work or if we are not able to earn money, we will receive money
as a gift. I also like to receive money and gifts, because I buy from the money, what I want,
but the gifts are always surprises and more personal, so maybe I like them a little better. We
can also earn money through student jobs or even summer jobs. The money we earn in this
way is not spent, this is called saving.
SHOPPING

We just have to buy what we need, because if we buy more, maybe even (akár) things we
don’t need at all, it’s the waste of money. You can pay in a store with a credit card or cash,
but if you shop online, you can also pay by prepayment.
