Triceratops

This rhinoceros-like dinosaur is recognizable for

its bulky body, bony neck frill, parrot-like beak
and three horns. It probably used its horns to
protect itself from predators and ward off mating
rivals.

The Triceratops grew to about 30 feet long and

was the most numerous plant-eating dinosaur
during the late Cretaceous period (70 million years
ago). It was hunted by the fearsome Tyrannosaurus
rex.
