This is to certify that the project work entitled ANALYSIS OF DRUG ADDICTION
USING PYTHON proposed by Avnish kumar (1KT20CS011) and Pranita Shahi
Drug addiction is a serious global issue causing millions of deaths and contributing to the spread of
diseases like HIV. India is experiencing a rising trend in drug abuse, with alcohol being the most
common followed by cannabis and opiates. Men are more likely to use drugs, but the impact on
women is often greater due to limited access to care. Drug abuse leads to various health problems,
economic burdens, family issues, and violence. Adolescents are especially vulnerable, with over
half of those with substance use disorders starting before age 15. There's a significant gap in service
delivery, highlighting the need for proper management through treatment and prevention efforts.
We're planning to use a Google Form to ask some questions and also visit a rehab center to talk to
people there. We want to help them see that there are better ways than addiction. After we collect all
the info, we'll share it with a counseling person who can use it to help others in the future. To make
it happen, we'll create a simple survey online and visit the rehabilitation center with permission.
We'll talk to people there to understand their experiences with addiction and how the rehab center
helps. We promise to keep everything private and won't share any personal details. Once we have
all the information, we'll give it to a counseling professional. They can use it to figure out how to
help people better in the future. We want to make sure everyone knows there are good options out
there.

ANALYSIS OF DRUG ADDICTION USING PYTHON
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction
1.2 Scope
The scope of our initiative involves collecting data on individuals to analyze the challenges they are
facing and identify their specific needs in relation to addiction. This data collection will enable us to
offer tailored guidance, personalized suggestions, and motivation to help individuals avoid or
overcome addiction. The scope encompasses a comprehensive understanding of each person's
situation, allowing for the development of specific and effective interventions. Our goal is not only
to provide immediate support but also to establish a framework for ongoing assistance and
motivation. The scope holistic approach to address the unique requirements of each individual and
contribute to their long-term well-being by steering them away from the path of addiction.
1.3 Objectives
1.Identify high-risk populations for drug addiction through demographic analysis.
2. Develop a predictive model to anticipate relapses in individuals recovering from addiction.
3. Analyze socioeconomic and geographic factors to understand regional patterns of addiction.
4. Assess the effectiveness of various treatments and create an early detection system.
5. Investigate genetic influences, integrate insights with electronic health records, and contribute to
public awareness campaigns.

LITERATURE REVIEW
LITERATURE SURVEY
➢ Dr.Lalitha.K (2021):
2. Use and abuse of drugs and alcohol by teens is very common and can have serious
consequences. Possible stages of teenage experience with substance abuse include abstinence
(non-use), experimentation, regular use (both recreational and compensatory for other
problems), abuse, and dependency. Repeated and regular recreational use can lead to other
problems like anxiety, depression. Some teenagers regularly use drugs or alcohol to compensate
for anxiety, depression, or a lack of positive social skills. Teen use of tobacco and alcohol
should be minimized because they can be “gate way drugs” for other drugs (marijuana, cocaine,
hallucinogens, inhalants, and heroin)
3. Elnager et al (2020):
4. Reported a prevalence rate of 13 per 1000 in West Bengal, while Nandi et al gave a figure of
0.94 per 1000 of the total population for the same state. Similarly, in Uttar Pradesh, Dube and
Handa reported that 22.8 per 1000 were dependent on alcohol and drugs while Thacore from
Lucknow gave a figure of 18.55 per 1000. An important finding of these studies is that
alcohol was the commonest substance used (60-98%) followed by cannabis use (4-20%).
Epidemiological surveys also revealed that 20-40% of subjects above 15 years are current
users of alcohol and 10%
Conducted study that examines the prevalence of alcohol use, alcohol related problems,
psychological distress, anxiety and depression, mood and the relationship between these
variables in a sample of 534 college students in INDIA. In college men, 91% were current
alcohol users(those who use alcohol at least once a month) and in college women 80%were
current alcohol users. Current users were further divided two groups, moderate and heavy,
considering the amount and frequency of alcohol use. Beer was more popular among moderate
users than heavy users in both sexes. Blackouts, getting into fights and not being able to meet
school responsibilities were the common alcohol-related adverse outcomes reported by the
participants.
Gaps Identified:
Identifying gaps in the analysis of drug addiction using Python involves recognizing key areas
where current approaches may fall short. Challenges include limited access to high-quality,
diverse datasets, the need for more robust and generalizable machine learning models, and a
lack of transparency in model decision-making. Integrating multi-modal data, exploring
temporal patterns, and ensuring ethical considerations are central to the analysis. Additionally,
there's a call for increased user engagement, particularly with healthcare professionals and
communities affected by addiction, to tailor interventions effectively. Addressing these gaps
necessitates a collaborative effort, combining expertise from data science, healthcare, ethics,
and community engagement, to develop more insightful, transparent, and actionable solutions
for understanding and combating drug addiction using Python.
Proposed system :
The proposed system for drug addiction analysis aims to create a comprehensive platform
integrating data from healthcare records, social services, and community sources while
prioritizing data privacy. Advanced machine learning models will predict addiction risk
factors, and a user-friendly interface will provide accessible insights for healthcare
professionals and policymakers. Real-time monitoring features will track evolving patterns,
triggering alerts for stakeholders. The goal is to offer an efficient, transparent, and user-centric
tool for understanding and addressing drug addiction through advanced data analysis in a real-
world context.
The drug addiction analysis system has some cool benefits. It gathers information from healthcare,
social services, and the community, giving a full picture of addiction trends. The stats help us see
patterns and make smart decisions. Talking to the community helps us understand things better, and
educational stuff spreads awareness. There's also a hotline for quick help, making it easier for people
who need assistance. Basically, this system helps us deal with drug addiction by using data, talking to
people, and spreading knowledge.
CHAPTER 3

CHAPTER 4
METHODOLOGY
A study in Karnataka during 2021 looked into the increasing problem of young people using
drugs. It found reasons like wanting new experiences, peer pressure, and trying to figure out
who they are. The research focused on how addiction happens, including the role of drug
trafficking, and checked if programs like Vimukthi help. The goal is to find ways to stop more
young people from using drugs by suggesting new rules and programs.
The Excise Department's data highlights a concerning increase in contraband seizures each
year, particularly among adolescents in Kerala. The rising demand for drugs in this
demographic necessitates urgent attention. The Government of Karnataka has implemented
various programs to address drug abuse. Thus, evaluating the impact and reasons behind drug
addiction and trafficking among accused adolescents is crucial for informing
effective, interventions and addressing this growing issue.
The researcher selected 155 accused adolescents and 445 adolescent patients from the age group of
10-25 from all the De-Addiction centers under Vimukthi Mission in every district in Karnataka
(2021) for the present study as universe. Unit- An accused adolescent or adolescent patient between
the age group of 10-25.
