According to the article, “without kapwa, one ceases to be a Filipino &

ceases to be human.” What does it mean?

In understanding the universality of Filipino Values according to the

article, the Core Filipino Values are KAPWA and PAKIKIRAMDAM. In
summarization, when we say Pakikiramdam it is a shared inner
perception. It is a legitimate move leading to pagkakaisa (being one with
others) involving great care and deliberation manifested in “hesitation to
react, attention to subtle cues, and nonverbal behavior in mental role playing”. A
person who knows how to get along well with others is one who is
‘magaling makiramdam’ (good in sensing cues).” Without pakikiramdam,
there is no sense of time and kalooban and one cannot acquire a sense of
utang na loob. According to the article about “without kapwa, one ceases to
be a Filipino & ceases to be human” it just means that it is impossible for a
person to display kapwa through the Surface Value without
Pakikiramdam. Surface Values Are Hiya, Utang na Loob, and Pakikisama
these are recognized as a triad whose legs emanate from a single trunk, the
actual core value of the Filpino personality, KAPWA. Lastly, a person who
does not have pakikiramdam cannot have pakikisama or utang na loob.
Similarly, one cannot expect pakikiramdam from someone who does not
have hiya.

kung wala ang kapwa, ang isa ay titigil sa pagiging Pilipino at hindi na
nagiging tao
