SUGGESTED OUTLINE

1. Overview of product and market (2 marks)


Students provide some data of the current export-import quota, the value or potential of product in the
assigned market.
2. Supply chain members and their roles (2 marks)
Students determine who will be in the supply chain and their specific roles, which may include Raw
material suppliers, Exporter, Importer, Transporter, Insurer, Distributor, Warehouse, etc. Students may use
graphical tool to illustrate the supply chain model with all members as well as the linkage among them.
3. Specific Logistics activities in the detail process (4 marks)
Students provide some information of:
- Tax, regulation and any benefits related to product from the existing FTAs
- Incoterm and responsibility boundaries among members in the supply chain
In addition, students should identify steps of the export/ import procedure:
NEGOTIATION PHASE
Step 1. Based on the current inventory & the demand forecast, identify the import or export quantity.
Step 2: Search for markets and sources of importing or exporting goods
Step 3: Calculate costs and prices for the shipment
Step 4: Negotiate and sign the contract
PRE-DELIVERY PHASE
Step 5: Make payment procedures (T/T, L/C, D/P, …)
Step 6: Arrange the transportation & Buy insurance (if any)
Step 8: Apply for an import or export license (necessary documents: contract)
Step 9: Quarantine, fumigation/point of determination/specialized inspection
DELIVERY PHASE
Step 10: Prepare Documentations
Step 11: Delivery of goods
Step 12: Conduct the customs clearances.
AFTER RECEIVING GOODS
Step 13: Transport goods to warehouse
Step 14: Prepare warehouse to store goods.
4. Incoterms Practice (2 mark)
Students present logistics activities in responsibilities and obligations boundaries subjected to specified
Incoterms.
