Reflection on Career Plan

Building a career plan is one of the best strategies in achieving our professional

milestones and personal success. Last semester when I was constructing my career plan, I was

able to define my long-term and short-term objectives. It serves as a blueprint for my career

direction by creating root work for future goals and decisions on my professional journey.

When I was doing my career map it increased my motivation, I became confident that my

efforts were not wasted- I was able to achieve my specific goal, which is to take the NCLEX

exam and earn my Canadian Nursing license.

This instilled in me a sense of achievement. I realized that creating a career plan

enlightens one to realize what is important and identify the distractions that hinder

professional growth. Since I am on the next step on my career goal, it is important that I foster

good rapport, meet mentors, and seek opportunities that can help me with my next ambition.

Which is to be employed as a registered nurse here in Ontario. It is helpful to utilize valuable

resources from Mohawk College like Career Ready programs and International Student

Services.

In my viewpoint, confidence plays a major aspect in seeking networks for employment

opportunities. I should list my strengths, and weaknesses and ensure that my goals are aligned

towards my career advancement. Another strategy that helped me to progress towards my goal

is that I poster it on my walls, it gives me the chance to visualize and review where I am, and

the progress I’m about to make. I take time to celebrate my small victories; these fuels me to

adhere to my career plan and energizes my desire to accomplish more. As I venture towards my
career plan, I must be flexible with adjustments based on the changing advancements of health

care science and best nursing practices. I should be adaptive and resilient as these are

invaluable attributes in fulfilling my career path.
