3.1 Circuit Breakers Unit (fig. 1)

The parallelepiped metal structure is fitted with a front door and operating and control mechanism on the
external front side.
The apparatus must only be isolated and connected with the door closed. The earthing switch control panel
on the lower front part is fitted with:
 earthing switch operating mechanism seat (1)
 the actuator (2) for operating the shutter (3) of the earthing switch operating mechanism seat
 key lock with earthing switch open (4)
 key lock with earthing switch closed (5)

The voltage indicator lamps (6) are mounted in the upper part of the unit.
The door is fitted with:
 an operating window to see the apparatus position (7)
 a coupling (8) for the removable lever for apparatus racking in/out with the door closed
The compartment houses the following components:
 truck guides (9)
 segregating shutters (10) of the fixed isolating contacts inside the monoblocks and the shutter
operating mechanisms (11)
 socket for the mobile connector (12)
 mechanical lock for preventing racking out of the auxiliary circuit connector when the circuit breaker
is connected (13)
 micro switch kinematics for signaling circuit breaker connected position (14)
 micro switch kinematics for signaling the apparatus isolated position (15)

3.2 VT unit and withdrawable truck (fig. 2)

The voltage transformer unit consists of an enclosure where a withdrawable truck is inserted, with the
transformers on board and the relative protection fuses.
The withdrawable truck can be fully withdrawn from the unit and allows safe fuse replacement.
A special metallic shutter prevents contact with the medium voltage terminals when the truck is withdrawn.
The main measurement compartment features are
 VTs mounted on withdrawable truck inside the unit
 Isolation of the VTs and relative fuses is by means of an operating handle outside the compartment
 When the VTs are isolated the VT auxiliary circuits are also isolated automatically
 Travel of the VTs truck automatically operates the metallic shutter
 The fuses can be replaced opening the door, after VT isolation and its withdrawal from the
compartment
The VT truck can take up the following positions: Connected, Isolated, Withdrawn.

VT auxiliary circuits are connected by means of sliding contacts, the cable area of wall‐standing switchboards
can be accessed by withdrawing the whole measurement compartment.

4. INSTRUCTIONS FOR OPERATING THE APPARATUS AND OPERATION SEQUENCE OF THE UNITS

4.1 Circuit Breaker racking in/out

The apparatus must be inserted into the unit only in the open position; its racking must be gradual, so as to
safeguard the mechanical interlocks against ant deforming impact.

4.1.1 Switching from "WITHDRAWN" to "ISOLATED" position (Fig.2)

Lift the apparatus and place it on the handling truck (1)
Open the door of the circuit breaker compartment
Insert the hooking bracket (2) and block the wheels
Release the circuit‐breaker from the truck by moving the handles (3) at the same time towards the circuit
breaker center axis and at the same time gradually pushing the circuit breaker handles towards the back of
the module until the circuit breaker locks with the handles clicking laterally, inserting themselves into the
slots
Remove the trucks from the switchboard

4.1.2 Switching from " ISOLATED" to "TEST" position (Fig.3)

This regards the connection of auxiliary circuits.

Insert and hook the mobile connector (1) in the enclosure fixed socket (2)

4.1.3 Switching from "TEST" to "CONNECTED" position

Close the circuit breaker compartment door

Close the voltage compartment door
Make sure that:
The locking electromagnet of the earthing switch is energized (if supplied)
The key locks (Fig. 1 4,5) are disabled (if supplied)
Insert operating lever into the seat of the earthing switch and open it, turning the lever anticlockwise
Withdraw the operating lever from the earthing switch seat
Make sure the earth switch is open
Close the cover of the earthing switch by turning the actuator clockwise; this operation unlocks the circuit
breaker and trips a lock for preventing insertion of the operating lever into the earthing switch
Make sure that the locking magnet on the circuit breaker truck is energized
Push the relative push‐button on the auxiliary door to unlock and move the trolley
Fully insert the operating lever of the circuit breaker truck in corresponding coupling and turn it clockwise
until the circuit breaker is fully connected
Trough the inspection window make sure that the circuit breaker is connected.

4.2 VT Unit (Fig. 4)

Push the relative push‐button on the auxiliary door to unlock the electromagnetic lock on the door (if
supplied)
Open the unit door pulling the handle upwards
Lift the VT truck front part and insert the front wheels in the guides (1)
Push the truck backwards, lift the rear part and insert the rear wheels trough the guide
Push the truck backwards until is blocked (2)
Close the compartment door pushing the handle downwards

4.3 Disabling the circuit breaker unit door

Skilled personnel with suitable knowledge of the apparatus and installation must carry out this operation
only in case of emergency.
Should the door lock of the apparatus unit be activated and the switchboard door must be unlocked, loosen
the screw (fig. 5‐1), insert a 2‐3 mm diameter rod in the hole, push the lever (2) and at the same time open
the door, pulling the handle upwards.

4.4 Operating the earthing switch

Make sure the electromagnetic lock of the earthing switch (if supplied) is energized.
The earthing can only be operated with the circuit breaker in the isolated or withdrawn position
Once started, the operations must be completed.
Make sure the circuit breaker is either in the isolated or withdrawn position
Open the cover of the earthing switch operating actuator (Fig. 6‐1) anticlockwise; the earthing switch
operating seat is freed
Insert the operating lever in the earthing switch seat making the raised part coincide with one of the two
slots
Close the earthing switch by turning the lever clockwise
Remove the operating lever
Check on the operating seat that the earthing switch is closed

4.5 VT Unit

Putting the VT truck in and out of service must be performed with door closed
Insert the operating lever into the seat (Fig. 7‐1)
Turn the lever clockwise and push hard until is fully inserted
Make sure that by pulling the handle upwards the door does not open
