Writing A Letter of Application
TASK 1 : A tourist company which organises coach tours of your home town has placed the following
advertisement in your local newspaper:
Please apply in writing to : 106 Thang Long street, Ha Noi , Viet Nam.
Ex: I have already filled in the online application form and sent it in as requested. I
am available for an interview on any weekday after 4.30 p.m. or at weekends. If my
application is successful, I can start immediately.
o Yours faithfully, ... (you don't know the name!) = DEAR SIR/ MADAM
o “Yours sincerely” is typically employed in English when the recipient is addressed by
name (e.g. “Dear John”) and is known to the sender to some degree, whereas “Yours
faithfully” is used when the recipient is not addressed by name (i.e., the recipient is
addressed by a phrase such as “Dear Sir/Madam”)
TASK 2 : You are Tom, a class 11 student of a high school. You lack time-management skills and you
want to join life skill courses at BLUE STAR LIFE SKILLS TRAINING CENTRE. Write a letter of
requesting to Ms Brown for advice on a suitable course and get further information about it.
OUTLINE:
