3.8 Finding Composite Area on the Coordinate Plane

Area of a Rectangle/Square = (Base)(Height) Area of a triangle = 0.5 ( Base)(Height)
2 2
Area of a Circle = π(𝑟) Area of a semi circle = 0.5π(𝑟)

1.) Find the area of the region by adding up the area of the square, rectangle and two triangles.

2.) Find the area of the shaded region.

3. Find the area of the composite figure.

4.) Find the area of the composite figure.

Area of a trapezoid = 0.5 ( Left Side + Right Side) ( Base)

Use the formula above to find the area of the trapezoids.
5.) 6.)

7.) Use vertical lines to break the figure into 3 trapezoids. Then find the area of each trapezoid. Add
them all together to find the shaded area.
