weeks. At the end esther can't think of giving
away her phone, but really wants the money
3 Dad (pp. 17-19) Her dad facetimes her and tells her about
Lucille. She doesn't want to tell him about the
challenge

She feels a bit unsure, but
Natalie encourages her.
Shaquilla and Sophie don't think the challenge
is a good idea.

5 Family At the beginning of the chapter we find out

6 Hello FOMO It's disconnect day Esther has to give up her

When she arrives at school,
Natalie already has her old-fashioned phone.
As Esther hands out her phone too, she realizes
that only a few people joined the challenge.
She finds out that Shaquilla and Sophie didn't
take part too.
At the end she and Sophie talk to two boys for
a meet up to set up a support group
7 Addiction (pp. It’s difficult for Esther. She constantly wants
34-38) to check her phone. She gets a call from
Natakie. Natalie explains that Nanoy has set up
a group for her party and that they’re both not
included. She sents a postcard to her sister
inviting her to basabousa.
8 Support group The Disconnect group meets at Basabousa.
(pp. 39-43) After River asks if anyone is enjoying not
having a phone a girl named Maura starts
speaking. She doesn't own anphone. She
explains the reason. At her postet pictures her
friends would comment bad stuff about her.
Without a phone she is able to focus better she
says. Esther propesesmher to ne friends.

9 Identity theft (pp. River gives a speech about social media, he


44-49) explains how people easily make money with
peoples identitys. Later everyone leaves exept
Esther and River. Esther says that his speech
was interesting. They talk about their families
and Esther explains her situation and how
hardnit is for her.
10 Spies (pp. 50-55)
Esther gets a postcard from her sister. She is
happy for her.
At school she sees Maura sitting alone. Natalie
doesn't want anything to do with Maura so
Esther and Tommy went to her. She talks
about the Café and Maura wants to tell her
Family and Friends about it.
