I would like to say thank you to my parents, aunt and friends for helping me
collecting data. And I would like to thank God for giving me the ability to carry out
this Social Studies SBA.
Introduction

In this research the researcher is looking at unemployment in their community

and issues that arise because of it. I have noticed that many persons in my
community doesn’t have a job because of various reasons some are due to COVID
-19, low wages and a lack of job opportunities.
Statement of Problem

Topic: Unemployment

The causes and effects of unemployment in the area of Stony hill road, Golden
Spring.

Reason for selecting topic

The reason for selecting this topic is because it is a minor problem that can
become a major problem in the future in my community. This investigation is
important and it should be carried out to find out the cause, effects and possible
solution to the problem. Unemployment in my community seems like a trending
of social issues. There is a crisis when parents lose their jobs and can’t afford basic
necessities like food, rent, clothes and in some cases education for their families.
And sometimes their children get affected by them losing school, universities and
then having difficulties in finding a steady or good paying job. Then they engage in
activities such as going in gangs and becoming thieves and resulting in negative
behaviors and influence. Some people get depressed, lonely and feel neglected in
some cases because they don’t have any family members to support them while
they aren’t employed. The government has the power to decrease
unemployment by having workshops for those who are unemployed so that they
can enhance their skills to be self-employed or to become employed.
Method of Investigation

To investigate my problem I have utilized questionnaires, in order to get

information for my survey.

The questionnaire has some advantages as a collecting tool:

 It requires little to be completed.

 Differences in understanding and interpretation
 It can be done at the accessibility of persons

The questionnaire has some disadvantages as a collecting tool:

 Low responses
 Interpreted incorrectly
 Accessibility issues
Instrument used to collect data
Dear citizens,

I have prepared questionnaire in my community, to find out the levels of

unemployment within the area. This survey is being carried out as an
assignment for a Social Studies SBA that I am currently doing. I have decided to
do a questionnaire that doesn’t entail any personal information and is easy to
fill out. You must answer every question honestly since no one will see your
personal answers. All questions can be answered by placing a tick in the box.

calculated that 3O% was necessary to acquire a precise conclusion on the ratio of
employed to unemployed persons in my community (30% of 20= 6).

A total of 9 questionnaire were organized and distributed among members of the

community. I therefore decided to choose the households by the process of
random selection. 9 emails were sent out to persons by email. These persons
were given 48 hours to complete the questionnaire that was distributed. A total
of 8 questionnaires were received at the end of 48 hours.
