Being a part of a community is a part of everyday life. It is important to keep in
touch with those around us to maintain a stable community throughout. This is where socially engaged individuals come through, being there to help their communities. Helping a community doesn’t have to be a grand gesture. It can also be done with little things, like tutoring classmates, donating to charity or participating in a local function. What matters is that you stay engaged in your community and a decent person in general. An article that best exemplifies this trait is my field trip to the OCTA meeting. We got to see how the OCTA works first hand and how their decisions get through. The goal of our field trip was to speed up the trolley construction process next door to our school. I made sure to stay polite and attentive, to present a good image of our school. Our field trip made a change to our school. The construction is wrapping up at a faster rate, and is predicted to be finished at the end of 2024. This is certainly a skill worth developing, as it can be used to make change for the good of our communities. I will make sure to use this outside my education, as it will be more necessary the older I get.
