Their length is up to 5 feet(152.5cm). The small,
stocky Hector's dolphin has a long fluke, no
external beak, and a short body. At adulthood, their
body lengths range from four to five feet, with Mui

eat fishes such as red cod, ahuru, arrow squid, sprat,
sole, and stargazer for their diet. From two to four
years old, females gives birth to a single calf, and
the calf remains with its mom for a period of one to
two years, though two years are more likely. Their
lifespan is atleast 22 years old. Their role in the
ecosystem is to regulate regional fish populations.
They live in the waters around the new zealand
coast. Hector's dolphins are frequently seen in

Issues

Bycatch in gillnets and trawls used for commercial and


recreational purposes is the biggest threat to both
subspecies. Threats to the dolphins' habitat, illness, and
tourism may all have a negative effect. The level is at an
endangered level. The current status in the wild for
hector’s dolphin is the fishermen will capture more
hector’s dolphin.
