The toolbox contains the main tools for working on images. When we launch Photoshop, the
Tools bar automatically appears on the left side of the window.

13. Briefly explain the following tools:

a) Clone stamp tool vs. Healing Brush

The Clone Stamp tool and Healing Brush clone (copy) pixels from one part of an image to
another, to another layer or even to another image. The difference between the Healing
Brush and the Clone Stamp tool is, the Healing Brush in Photoshop takes into account the
texture, illumination and shadows of the processed image. As a result, the fragment
processed by the Healing Brush blends more easily into the rest of the image.

b) Pattern Stamp tool: The Patch tool repairs an area with pixels copied from another area or
image.
c) Magic wand Tool: it selects areas of an image automatically with just one click.
d) Color Replacement: It replaces one color in an image with another.
14. Describe component of Blending Modes.
The Component Blending Modes use different combinations of the primary color components
(hue, saturation, and brightness) to create the blend.
15. What is blending mode? Define few blending modes.
The blending mode controls how pixels in the image are affected by a painting or editing tool.

 Clear mode: Edits or paints each pixel and makes it transparent. This mode is available for
the Shape tools (when fill region is selected), Paint Bucket tool , Brush tool , Pencil tool , Fill
command, and Stroke command. You must be in a layer with Lock Transparency deselected
to use this mode.
 Multiply : Looks at the color information in each channel and multiplies the base color by the
blend color. The result color is always a darker color. Multiplying any color with black
produces black. Multiplying any color with white leaves the color unchanged.
 Overlay : Multiplies or screens the colors, depending on the base color. The base color is not
replaced, but mixed with the blend color to reflect the lightness or darkness of the original
color
 Soft Light : Darkens or lightens the colors, depending on the blend color. Painting with pure
black or white produces a distinctly darker or lighter area, but does not result in pure black
or white.
 Hard Light : Multiplies or screens the colors, depending on the blend color. Painting with
pure black or white results in pure black or white
 Vivid Light : Burns or dodges the colors by increasing or decreasing the contrast, depending
on the blend color.
