CHEERDANCE is coined from the words, Cheer

and Dance
To cheer is to shout out words or phrases
that may help motivate and boost the morale of a
playing team and perform better during a game.
Dance, on the other hand, is a physical activity
where one expresses emotions or gestures while
performing bodily movements usually in time with
rhythm.
Cheer dancing is identified as one of the most
spectacular events in one of the biggest collegiate
sports event in the country, the UAAP University
Athletic Association of the Philippines.

basic hand movements and position that I will
discuss? Yes ma’am.

I will be the one to demonstrate the movements

then after that each of you will be given time to
perform.

Is that clear? Yes ma’am.

The first hand movement or position that we will

discuss is,

Beginning stance – feet together, hands down by

the sides in blades.

Cheer Stance – feet more than shoulder width apart,

hands down by the side in blades or you can fist your
hands and place them on your hips.

“T” motion- both arms extended straight out to the

side and parallel to the ground, relax the shoulders.

Broken T/ Half T - From a T position, bring your

forearms in by your chest so your forearms are a
horizontal position, hands in fists.

Clasp – Hands clasped, at the chin, elbows in.

V motion:
High V motion- your arms are extended up forming
a V.
Low V motion- your arms are extended down
forming a V.
Bow and Arrow – One arm is extended in a T
position, and one arm is in a half T position. This
motion can be done as a right or left motion.

Diagonal – One arm is extended in a high V motion,

and one arm is in a low V motion. This motion can be
done as a right or left motion.

E. MAKING GENERALIZATION AND ABSTRACTION

ABOUT THE LESSON

What have you learned from our topic? (call a student to answer in his/her
opinion)

Very good!

Who can give me the different cheerleading hand Beginning stance, cheer stance, “T”
movements and positions that we had discussed? position, Half “T” position, Clasp, “V”
position, Bow and Arrow, Diagonal.
Okay, Thank you.

Do you think learning basic cheerleading movements (call a student to answer in his/her
gives some benefits to our body? opinion)

These moves build powerful muscles in the upper

body, shoulders and core. Coordination, or the
ability to move your body through a sequence of
motions, is essential for the timing and rhythm
involved with cheerleading.
So class, if you have any further questions please
