My life is a whirlpool, looking in from the brink reminds me of a record player, slowly circling, the
sweet song that plays leaves a earthy taste in my mouth. Anyone else looking in would agree. My
friends, my teachers, my coaches all stand on the rocks, momentarily looking in at the surface of my
life. I like it there. However, my mind is a thief. Every so often, it steels me, pulling me down, deep
into the isolated depths of the water. The song seeps into unbearable screeching that chokes me, the
water surges, and no matter what's happening on the surface, I feel trapped in my mind as anxiety and
depression bears down on me. Hours or seconds pass by, but I return to the rocks, and watch on,
waiting for the cycle to start again.
As a calm winter’s breeze rapidly sings by, winter gazes upon a serene turbine. Winter,
spinning and twisting, A drowning hum swallows her whole. The turbine begins crying, the
wind starts screaming, her thoughts are clouded and muddy. The turbine’s hum scares her,
drowning her, and creating the worst thoughts in her. The screeching turbine ceased, yet the
screaming tempest, uninterrupted. Her pocket of warmth, her small sense of relief, her
dreams once held, now in fragments twirled. As the turbine slowly gained speed, it whispered
secrets to the wind, through the battering of the wild tempest, ferocious and untamed. Winter
twirled to its tune in the tempest’s rage, a waltz with the turbine, though her steps were lost.
Winter gazed upon her crimson blood-soaked hands, demanding to erase the blood, the
tempest screamed violently in their disapproval.
