5. Letter flashcard
a. Prepare a table with flashcards
● The number of tables and flashcards depends on the number of students
present
● For example: if there are 4 students prepare 4 tables and divide the 26
letters into 4
● then let each student match the letters in each table
● one of the tables is vowel letters. Ask the student if the letters on the table
are vowels or consonants

Instruction for Name recognition activity


1. The student will read their name.
2. The student will copy the written name on the mat by sticking the letters in the drawn
box.
3. After sticking the letter, let the student say the letter.
4. if the student has difficulty in finding the correct letter, a prompt will be given through
giving a three array of letters to choose
5. if three arrays are still difficult for the student, lessen the array to two
6. if the two arrays are still difficult, point to the letter that is needed.
7. When the letter of the name is complete, let the student recognize each letter

Instruction for counting


1. Worksheets are in their tray
2. Explain to the student what to do
3. Let the student do it on their own
4. If the student needs an assistant do prompting.

Instruction for segmenting


1. Introduce the vowel letters
2. Let the student identify the sound. if the learner has difficulty identifying the sound do
prompting
3. Introduce the beginning letter sound example letter R
4. combine the first consonant letter R to vowels (ra, re, ri, ro, ru
5. introduce the last letter sound to form CVC ( ra +t =rat)
6. Introduce the segmenting mat
7. The teacher will say the first two letter sounds ( ra) and the student will stick the “ra” to
the mat
8. the teacher will say the last constant sound (t) and the student will stick the “t” to the mat
to form the given word (rat)
9. the teacher will read the formed word (rat) and the student will repeat the word.
