The Rabat Forum for Reviving Cultural and Artistic Heritage

Drissi Driss

President of the Rabat Forum for Reviving Cultural and Artistic Heritage

We are here today in the presence of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency,
under the theme: "Hymns of Letters from Al-Aqsa to Al-Aqsa."
But just for the record, Jerusalem/Al-Quds has always been present in the
hearts and minds of Moroccans, for both its leadership and people because of
the sanctity of the place and the ardency Moroccans have for all the sacred
lands mentioned in the Holy Quran.
Today, once again, we are connecting the past to the present, inscribing letters,
words, and meanings, all bearing messages of solidarity and peace within a
distinctive artistic and creative mould.

These creations come from hands that have been honored and cared for by the
foremost patron of arts and artists, His Majesty King Mohammed VI,
Commander of the Faithful and the head of the Al-Quds Committee, may God
protect him.
Today's solidarity event is merely a continuation of an initiative that originated
with the « Maghrebi rab’a », a version of the Quran inscribed by Sultan Ali Abu
Al-Hasan Al-Marini with his own hand in the the year 745 hijri. He presented a
copy to the Al-Aqsa Mosque which is still preserved in the Islamic Museum at
the mosque until today.
As a civil society , we have always sought to contribute to the advancement of
our cultural, artistic and civilizational heritage, in line with the directives of our
monarch, may God assist him, who designated Rabat as the City of Lights and
the Capital of Culture.
As guests at the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, we take pride in participating
in this gathering that, for the first time, brought together a group of
calligraphers, letterers, and decorators. They have all had the honor of standing
before His Majesty the King, the Commander of the Faithful, may God protect
him, and they are here today to convey messages of solidarity and peace from
the Maghrib Al-Aqsa to the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
