Legal formalities (Article 1498)When a sale is conducted via a public instrument, the
instrument's execution is equivalent to the delivery of the item sold. It is recognized that the
party who executes it intends to transfer ownership.
Traditio simbolica “symbolic delivery” (Article 1498)Delivering the keys to the location or

Traditio longa manu “delivery by the long hand” (Article 1499)If the object cannot be

pointing at the thing.
Traditio brevi manu “delivery by the short hand” (Article 1499)There is no need to deliver
the item sold in this case since the vendee was already inp ossession of the item prior
to the sale and will continue to be in possession of it in the sense of an owner. This only applies
to movables.
