Estructuras
The articulation points in such structures are crucial as they allow movement without
compromising the overall integrity of the system. They can be joints, hinges, or other mechanisms
that permit rotation, translation, or deformation. These joints are carefully designed to distribute
forces and stresses effectively, ensuring stability and safety.
1. **Bridges**: Many modern bridges incorporate articulated structures to handle the stresses of
expansion and contraction due to temperature changes, wind loads, and traffic loads. Expansion
joints and movable bearings allow for movement without damaging the bridge structure.
2. **Cranes**: Cranes often use articulated structures to lift and move heavy loads. The boom,
which extends outwards, and the jib, which swings horizontally, are typical examples of articulated
components in cranes.
3. **Robotic Arms**: Industrial robots and robotic manipulators utilize articulated structures to
perform precise movements in manufacturing, assembly, and other tasks. Multiple joints allow for
complex movements similar to human arms.
5. **Mechanical Linkages**: Articulated structures are also common in mechanical linkages used
in machinery and mechanical systems. These linkages transmit motion or force from one point to
another, often with multiple degrees of freedom.
