not the only one who’s excited about this swelling marijuana investment opportunity.
Last year, $215 million in venture capital flooded into the marijuana industry.
This cash went towards farms and dispensaries, weed technology, and real estate…
every nook and cranny of the marijuana business.
Then there’s Privateer Holdings, which invests in privately held cannabis startups
and today has a valuation of $425 million.
“We’re investing because we think it’s a great business,” Privateer Holdings CEO
Brendan Kennedy recently told CBS News.
In April of 2015, Privateer Holdings caught the attention of venture capital legend and
billionaire Peter Thiel, the co-founder of PayPal (and an early investor in Facebook,
LinkedIn, SpaceX, Airbnb, and Yelp). Thiel became the main player in a $75 million
Series B funding round for Privateer Holdings.

1. The outcome of election 2016 could be a huge catalyst for
Marijuana Stocks.
This means that the Democratic Party officially endorses changing the federal status
of marijuana. In addition, the party said that it will support permitting more
marijuana research, and it will also support the ability of marijuana businesses to
operate without legal repercussions.
If there's a Hillary Clinton victory in November, that could also be a big victory for
marijuana stocks. Many marijuana companies, especially those that research
cannabis-based drugs, would heavily benefit from marijuana being downgraded to a
Schedule II or III drug.
So far, Donald Trump and the Republican Party have yet to take a stance on
marijuana legalization during this election.
pg. 9
2. Don't limit your search for marijuana companies to just the
United States.
The fight for complete marijuana legalization in Canada – where medical marijuana
is already legal – is moving at a much faster pace than in the United States.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has vowed since taking office to legalize
recreational marijuana by 2017. And it looks like he's following through. Canada's
Liberal Party government will introduce a law next spring to legalize recreational
marijuana, according to the USA Today. That bodes well for many Canadian
Marijuana Stock companies.
Several states have already passed similar laws. These include Alaska, Oregon,
Colorado, and Washington.
But legalization in California could attract entrepreneurs looking to venture into the
marijuana industry. The state's profits from increased cannabis sales could surpass
those of Washington and Colorado – the first states to legalize it. With more than 39
million residents, California is an untapped market that could rake in millions from
marijuana sales.
Statewide legislation and the presidential race are only two reasons why U.S.
marijuana stocks are poised for growth.
pg. 10
Marijuana legalization has become a mainstream movement. There are 25
states – and Washington, D.C. – that have laws legalizing marijuana in some
form.
That means investors are about to be set up for some big profit opportunities
from the marijuana market in 2016.
Before we get into how profitable the U.S. marijuana industry will become,
here's what you need to know about the movement toward tolerant marijuana
legislation…
Of the states that have some kind of legal marijuana laws in place, D.C. and four states
– Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington – have legalized it for recreational use.
Meanwhile, 20 more states have legalized cannabis for medicinal use only. These
include Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland,
pg. 11
Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New
Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
As more states legalize marijuana, sales and tax revenue will continue to grow. That
will make marijuana stocks much more attractive over the long term.
In fact, ArcView reported the U.S. marijuana market could post $21.8 billion in annual
sales by 2020. That's 72% higher than the National Football League's 2015 revenue
of $12.7 billion.
This huge sales growth reflects the changing attitudes toward marijuana use.
pg. 12
No. 1: Governments Will Say Yes to More Revenue
If there's anything governments love, it's more tax revenue. And that's what legal
marijuana sales give them.
Just look at what happened in Washington and Colorado in 2014. Each state has
legalized recreational marijuana use and collected around $70 million in tax revenue
from marijuana sales, Time Magazine and CNN reported. That's about twice as
much revenue as Colorado generated from alcohol taxes, according to analysts
from the ArcView Group, a marijuana research firm. In 2015-2016, Colorado is
expected to bring in $135 million in cannabis taxes.
The U.S. marijuana market could be worth $30 billion annually by 2020, according to
a 2015 report from the Bank of America Merrill Lynch, the first of such from any
major financial institution.
There is a ton of research going into the medical applications of cannabis other than
its traditional use as a painkiller.
pg. 13
Early research suggests cannabis can treat a large range of diseases and illnesses,
such as schizophrenia, Type 2 diabetes, post-traumatic stress disorder, and even
some types of cancer. Many existing cannabis-derived drugs on the market are
already approved in countries such as the UK, Germany, and Spain. As more research
is done in the United States, new cannabis drugs could even become approved by
the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, according to the Bank of America report.
Currently, 25 states and the District of Colombia allow the use of marijuana for
medical reasons. So far, though, not much FDA peer-reviewed research has been
done on the medical applications of marijuana. One nonprofit, however, called the
Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies is trying to get marijuana
approved by the FDA for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder.
There are over 80 marijuana stocks that either trade over-the-counter or on the
Nasdaq. So there are plenty of stocks out there to choose from. And as the marijuana
industry grows, expect many more marijuana companies to go public.
Currently, the majority of these stocks are penny stocks, which trade for under $5.
On June 16, the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee approved an addition to the
Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill that makes it easier
for banks to provide services for legal marijuana businesses.
Currently, marijuana companies can only operate in cash, because most banks were
afraid of doing business with them. But with the new measure, financial institutions
would no longer fear opening up accounts for state-legal businesses.
For the bill to become law, it will need to be passed by the entire Senate and the
House of Representatives. Then it would need the approval of the president.
pg. 14
No. 5: The Rise of Subsectors
Many people think that the marijuana industry is solely businesses that sell pot. But
that's far from true. Some grow marijuana, while others make apps for marijuana
sellers and users. Some even sell tools and equipment to help people grow and
cultivate marijuana.
One of the sectors that will benefit most if marijuana is legalized federally is the
biotech space, according to U.S. News & World Report. Current laws make marijuana
research difficult, but legalization would allow biotech companies to research
marijuana without fear of legal repercussions. Other areas that would benefit are the
health and wellness, real estate, and software industries, according to the U.S. News
& World Report.
The marijuana industry's wide breadth gives investors a lot of options about where
to put their money. And because it dips in all sorts of sectors, from tech to agriculture,
the marijuana industry has plenty of room for future growth.
pg. 15
You've got a lot of options with Marijuana Stocks and vetting them is extra
important.
There are over 80 Marijuana Stocks to choose from, and the overwhelming majority
of them are penny stocks, which trade under $5 per share.
You've got to do your research. Since most Marijuana Stocks trade over the
counter (OTC) or on the Pink Sheets, that can be extra difficult. Pink Sheets require
far less financial reporting and standards than more popular exchanges, like the
NASDAQ or NYSE.
If you find a marijuana stock you like, make sure you check its quarterly and annual
earnings reports on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's website. These
reports will tell you about a Marijuana company's cash flow, assets, and debt levels.
And most importantly, it will tell you whether the company is actually making money
or just blowing smoke.
All of these stocks trade for under $5 per share and some under $1 so you don’t need
THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to invest.
