INTRODUCTION

Rationale

Every year approximately 1 billion trees worth of paper is wasted, which can range from

unsold books, newspapers, all the way to test papers and documents. And millions of this paper

go towards pollution, which is one of the many factors that are at present corroding the earth. At

the root of the problem, the paper arriving in stores are only percentages of quarters upon

quarters of paper that are still in production and in warehouses. Not to mention the amount of

gasoline used to ship this absurd amount of paper, starting from the trucks, the boats, and the

planes. Gasoline being a large contributor to air pollution which eats at the ozone layer of the

earth. What’s worse is when that paper is wasted. When the paper stays in store shelves only to

collect dust, the nutrients used by the tree to grow, the bleach and ink used on the paper during

production, the gas used by the delivery drivers, and the electricity used to power the paper

making machines are all wasted. Wasted paper is an incredible waste of resources, even paper

counted as pollution is contributing to more than wasted paper that only acts as a weight on

shelves. But with the introductions of the researchers' invention, it’s most probable that

production of paper will lessen and what the researcher calls Paper Reproduction is what will

occur in place of the production. The goal of the Researcher machine is to keep the paper that is

already in the world cycling in-order to keep the paper recycling. Instead of a linear use of

produce, use, and pollute, the production of the researchers machine will make the use of paper

become produce, use, reproduce, use, etcetera. With the creation of the researchers machine not

only will paper production lessen but use of ingredients will also lessen. As you only need used

paper, water, and energy such as electricity, and with the rise of renewable energy sources such

as solar panels and wind turbines electricity can be considered as moot. The researcher paper
reproduction machine can be used in Offices, schools, and so on. Because so many pieces of

paper are wasted on a daily basis the machine can merely reproduce the paper in order to not

waste so much. For example, in schools many reams of paper is wasted on test papers as the test

questions are renewed, but the machine can just make a clean slate from a used one.

In-order to produce the machine, researchers will firstly use steel or stainless steel to create

the parts of the machine before assembly. The parts of the machine will be the shredder, the

pulper, the funnel, the sieve, the flat iron or heat press, as well as the base and structure. In

assembly welding will be the main way of connecting pieces as it is more convenient than

casting, and for the reason that casting is extremely dangerous. To obtain the metal the

researcher will collect viable scrap metal in-order to save money but any missing pieces will be

ordered on online sites. Parts such as the sieve and pulper blade will be from recycled materials

such as kitchen sieves and the blade of a kitchen blender. Electronic parts like the motors and

wires will be ordered on online sites in-order to maintain the researcher’s safety during the

wiring. But before assembling the whole machine, smaller prototypes will be made in-order to

test any codes, timings, and stability or sturdiness. The researcher aims to keep the paper in the

world in constant usage, instead of the now standstill and wasted papers of expired and renewed

test papers, and office papers. The researcher aims to distribute these machines to offices and

schools in-order to minimize the waste of paper. Though the cost of mass production of these

machines is high, it will make back the money and materials through lessening the amount of

money spent on paper each year. With this project comes many goals. But the Researcher hopes

to lessen the need to produce millions of reams of paper yearly. And to give purpose to expired

documents, expired test papers, and digitized files. These goals will slowly be surpassed over
many years but it will be well worth it. Overall, to give purpose to unused paper is the

Researchers Goal and Aim.

Significance of the Study

The researcher’s study aims to determine the effectiveness or efficiency of the machine

compared to other paper recycling methods. Completing the study and maximizing the machines

capabilities will lessen or even solve a plethora of real-world problems. Such as pollution

particularly paper, waste of paper, destruction of trees, and gasoline used for shipping. Firstly,

instead of paper just being thrown away people can be urged to instead recycle their paper.

Secondly, real life files that have been digitalized can now be reused after recycling. Third, if

paper is recycled instead of wasted production of new paper can now be lessened resulting is less
deforestation. Fourth, with less paper being produced less gas will be used for shipping because

new paper will only be needed periodically. And finally, less electricity will be used on paper

making machines and will only require some electricity for the paper recycler. And these are only

a few examples of problems that can be solved because these problems are interlocked and cause

chain reactions with one another. Though stating problems of the world that the machine can

solve is a good voucher for the studies importance, there are plenty more reasons why the study

should be continued.

In the rationale it was mentioned that over a billion trees are used for paper yearly which

is true, and the contribution of the researcher machine will be to lessen the need for that many

trees. The study will infer the efficiency of the machine compared to the currently used method

of paper recycling which is a mostly manual process. But the researchers believe the machine

will far surpass the expectation for results. But why must we determine the machines efficiency

and compare it to a manual method? as most machines have shown to have capabilities far

beyond a human, isn’t it a no bueno that the machine will be much better than the manual

method? Well, the only reason the machine is being compared to a human’s capabilities is

because there are no other machines to base it off of. So, the study will be proof why automation

of recycling is better than human recycling. The study will be a testament to why automation is

better than manual labor and well. The study will also serve as another brick on the road to other

automated machines. The designs, the innovations, and improvements the machine will see will

be endless through the generations.
