Unfortunately most accidents are the result of
negligence or carelessness. These can be prevented
by following preventive safety measures. No safety or
protective equipment, no matter how well it is
designed, is better than the machine operator’s care
and attention.

Description of warning texts

The warnings texts are classified into three levels
dependent on how serious the results of an accident
may be.

Danger means that there is a risk of

danger/accident if the instructions are not
followed. An accident would lead to serious
personal injury, death and/or serious
damage to property.

Warning means that there is a risk of

danger/accident if the instructions are not
followed. An accident may lead to serious
personal injury, death and/or serious
damage to property.

Important means that there is a risk of

danger/accident if the instructions are not
followed. The accident may lead to personal
injury and/or damage to property.

General
Read through the manual carefully and make sure
you understand the contents before using Rototilt.
Careless or incorrect use may result in serious, even
life-threatening injury.
Pay attention to the safety instruction in this
publication to protect Rototilt and prevent personal
injuries.
Read and pay attention to all warning stickers found
on Rototilt.
Do not let untrained personnel handle, repair or carry
out maintenance on Rototilt.
In addition, reference is made to the base machine’s
safety instructions.

Art no 1033 406 2003 10 22 English 7

Transport and moving
When lifting an unfixed Rototilt, a lifting
appliance must be securely attached, for instance to
the fastening. Check that the lifting devices cannot
become loose, slide or in any other way cause Rototilt
to fall or tip.

Important! When transporting or moving

the base machine a longer distance, tools
under Rototilt should be disconnected.

Before use
• Check that there is nobody within the risk area
for the base machine before beginning use.

• Always pressurise Rototilt to activate the lock

cylinder in the tool attachment.
See: Handling for each attachment

Important! Read through the chapter on

handling.

During use
• Never stand under a lifted tool.

• When changing tool, always pressurise Rototilt.

See: Handling for each tool attachment.

• Rototilt must not be used as a personnel lift.

Art no 1033 406 2003 10 22 English 8

• Risk of jamming

• Risk of falling objects.

• There is a risk for collision between the tool and

the maschine as an installed Rototilt will affect
the geometry of the machine.

After use
• Always park Rototilt with a tool mounted and
directed towards the ground.
Never park Rototilt hanging in the air.
See: The base machine’s instructions for
parking

• Follow the instructions in the maintenance

chapter

During maintenance
Warning! For service, maintenance or
other work on Rototilt, always disconnect
the electrical contact and all hydraulic
hoses connected to the base machine. Risk
of personal injury. Be careful!

General
Rototilt is a hydraulically-powered tool intended for
mounting and use between the shaft and tool of a
base machine. Base machine refers to a excavator or
excavator loader.
Tools connected under Rototilt are assumed to be of B
C
such a type that can normally be used for work with
base machines. To maximise the service life, heavier
work, such as breaking up of frozen soil and A
operation with hydraulic hammers, should be
avoided.
Any other type of use is not allowed without the
permission of the manufacturer. D

Rototilt has hydraulic functions that make it possible

to position the excavator tool:

Tilting, a side movement both to the right and left.

Rotation, unlimited rotation in both directions.

Control system
Rototilt has functions such as: rotation, tilting, extra
function and hydraulic tool attachment, operated by a
control system from the base machine cab. The
control system consists of electronic and hydraulic
components. Alternative control systems are
available which meet various conditions for
installation, operating features and control.

Swivel
The swivel function is to transport oil from the
control valve down to the tool attachment.

Rotor
Consists of worm transmission with unlimited
rotation in both directions. The worm transmission is
self-locking and functions as a brake during
excavation. The transmission works in an oil bath
and operated with a low-speed hydraulic motor.

Tool attachment
Attachment with hydraulic lock function makes it
possible to change tools simply.

under no circumstances, be connected in any other
Warning! than the prescribed way. See picture.
The tool attachment with its lock function is
an important part of Rototilt from a safety Right connecting
perspective. A defect in the function can
cause expensive stoppage and, in the worst
cases, serious personal injury. Be careful to
follow the instructions and pay attention to
the warnings in this publication. If problems
or faults are discovered with the tool
attachment lock function, contact your
dealer.

The tool attachment has an indicator rod which

shows if the lock function is open (fig 1) or closed
(fig 2). The indicator rod is visible from the Indicator rod
operator’s cab only if the tool attachment
engagement is turned in the excavation direction.

General
Read through the safety instructions before
beginning maintenance.
This section deals with preventative maintenance
and service work on Rototilt. More comprehensive
adjustments and repairs must be carried out by an
authorised service workshop. Contact your supplier
for information on service suppliers.

Cleaning
Keep Rototilt clean and free of stones, grit, etc. to
avoid damage to tilt cylinders, valves, electrical
cabling, hydraulic hoses, etc.
When cleaning Rototilt, avoid high pressure washes
against electrical components and sealings between
the rotor and attachment. High pressure washing can
grind dirt in and cause serious damage. See figure.

Spare parts
Spare parts can be ordered from your dealer.
Always state Rototilt type and manufacture number
according to the type name plate

Welding
Dismantle Rototilt from base machine to avoid
damage to electronic components.
Before any welding work on Rototilt, always contact
your authorised service workshop.

Refuse
When changing oil in the rotor house, a collection
vessel must be used to avoid oil spills. Be careful
when changing hydraulic components - use a
collection vessel.

Important!
BE CAREFUL OF NATURE!

Maintenance schedule
It is important for maintenance measures to be
carried out.

Daily
• Pay attention to visible defects to Rototilt
• Check that there is no oil leakage
• Check that all stickers are in place and legible
• Follow the specified maintenance intervals
• Lubricate Rototilt according to the diagram
• Check that there are no signs of damage on
hydraulic hoses
• Check all Rototilt functions
• Check for wear and damage on the wiring on
the boom and stick
• Keep all switches and wiring clean and free
from dirt
• Check that the diodes on the switches in the
cabin are working
