STRUCTURAL TOOLKIT KEY NOTES - INDUSTRIAL FLOOR SLAB

1. Method of flexural strength: use T48 for industrial slab

2. Point under consideration: create separate files for Internal, Corner, and Edge location. Edge and corner
thickening might be required as a result.

3. Conversions (between California Bearing Ratio CBR and Modulus of Subgrade Reaction K):
• Fill in CBR = 4% (this is a safe assumption for CBR, a lower number would indicate that the current soil
might not be strong enough and may cause sinking)
• Fill in bound sub grade thickness = the slab thickness. However, this number should only be less than
150 due to the graph in T48 only gives results up to slab with 150mm thickness
• Toolkit will return an equivalent design CBR based on the provided CBR and slab thickness provided.
• Input this into CBR at the start to get equivalent K
• Input this K from the conversion back to the soil parameter section

4. Reinforcement
• Length between construction joint: this is based on
drawing, if not then design to suit.
• Drag coefficient: Figure 1.31 T48 pg 43/121
• Method for reo determination: use (M)ax of all that
gives worst result
