What is an Art Subject?
The term subjects in art refers to the main idea that is
represented in the artwork. The subject in art is
basically the essence of the piece. To determine
subject matter in a particular piece of art, ask
yourself: What is actually depicted in this artwork?

REALISM
Realism, in the arts, is the accurate,
detailed, unembellished depiction of
nature or of contemporary life;
characterized by subjects painted from
everyday life in a naturalistic manner.

ABSTRACTION
Abstract art is an art that does not
attempt to represent an accurate
depiction of a visual reality but instead
use shapes, colors, forms and gestural
marks to achieve its effect.

This method glorified the mechanical
energy of modern life. Subjects are
modern world of industry and
technology.
