Homonyms
- are words that have
the same or almost
the same sound but
have different
meanings

Homographs
 words that are spelled the same
but have different meanings.
 Example:
bark ( the sound made by a dog )
bark ( outer covering of a woody
stem)
Homophones
 words having the same
pronunciation but different
meaning and spelling.
 Example:
tale ( a series of events or facts told )
tail ( the rear end of the body of an
animal)
More Examples:
1. Headaches may be a sign of stress.
You forgot to sign the letter.

2. I like to watch television every night.


I glanced at my watch.
