Solar-Powered Farming Is

Quickly Depleting the World's

Groundwater Supply
Place: In places such as India there is an ongoing revolution
about solar powers in the fields of India. By 2026 more than 3
million farmers will be raising irrigation water from beneath
the fields by using solar powered pumps. It allows them to
have a lot of water quantity which can transform the farmer’s
lives since places such as Rajasthan are deserted lands.
Therefore solar pumps are becoming more and more popular
amongst rural communities for agriculture.

Processes: Solar powered pumps have allowed farmers to

rely less on weather and more on the quantity of water
beneath the fields, so whenever water for irrigation is needed,
they can just collect it from the ground. Therefore hotter
places like Mexico and India have started relying on the
process of solar powered pumps which collect eatery from
underground. Due to this underground water supply is
depleting rapidly.

Power: Due to the high efficiency of solar powered pumps

people have started to use it more and is being influenced
around the world, but it can have some negative impacts of
depleting the world’s underground water supply. The
influence of machinery is already spreading and even
revolutions in India are happening for this solar powered
pumps as it serves as a great alternative to relying on other
sources of collecting water.

Possibilities: geographers can predict that, because of the

global influence of solar powered pumps the underground
water supply will be scarce and countries might have to
implement some kind of limitations to this system. There are
also some positive effects that this system can lead to such as
boosting food production, reducing poverty, and cutting
emissions, however the disadvantages are also large.
