II. Session Outline
Session Title: Simplifying Fractions
Session Objectives: At the end of the session, learners will be able to:
a) add fractions;
b) subtract fractions; and
c) create a self-reflection on the importance of fractions in the
community involvement
Key Concepts:  Understand the context of adding and subtracting fractions.
 Integrating real-life experience to analyze relevance on fractions.

Note: Students will work in PAIRS
Activity 1: Review of Adding and Subtracting Fractions
Introduction and Materials: Activity sheet
15 mins
Warm-Up  Learners will be given activity sheets.
 For 15 minutes, the learners will read and understand
about the topic.
Activity 2: Simplifying Fractions
Materials: Activity sheet
 The students will add and subtract fractions with
similar and dissimilar denominators.

Activity #3. Create your OWN FRACTION PROBLEM!


Materials: Activity sheet, coloring materials
 The students will create their own fraction problem by
coloring two fraction addends using two different colors,
to help build the correct total they will use the given
pictures.

Activity #4. Add and Subtract Fractions


Materials: Activity sheet, coloring materials
 The students will evaluate the math problems and write
their answer on the space provided.
 Match their answers on the letter in the chart on the
right side.
 Write the color of their likings on the different letters,
then color the letters in the picture given on the left
side.
