listed below must be checked at least once at each watch,
 Steering gear room (to be recorded in engine log book with any findings)
 Provision stores & compressors
 Funnel Casing
 Air Condition Room
 Nitrogen Generator Room (regarding safe entry procedures)
 Vent Heads around accommodation
 Funnel exhaust outlet for running machinery (day time only)

Following parameters and conditions shall be monitored properly during each watch,

 Main Engine control position shall be on bridge and main engine max RPM shall
be limited acc to sea and engine conditions. Any alteration on Main engine RPM limit
setting shall be first consulted to Chief Engineer.
 Main engine L/O pressure and filter diff pressure, As there is no stand-by start for
main engine lubricating oil pumps, parameters for lubricating oil must be under
supervision at all times.
 One of the Aux engines shall be at St-by mode and stand-by Aux Engine shall be
on MGO in case blackout caused by any failure at HFO module. This will not applied if
all three engines are running during port operations. All three shall be on HFO while
running. As there is no auto load sharing and frequency adjustment, such parameters shall
be checked and adjusted manually.
 Stern tube aft seal tank level
 Refrigeration system and room temperatures
 Bilge levels
 Sounding of all double bottom tanks including cofferdams shall be checked once
a day
 Soot blowing of economizer shall be carried out at 3 rd Eng. watch, only while ship

generators shall be kept at minimum regarding safe load of DG sets. Heating of fuel
storage tanks shall be done during voyage via waste heat economizer and aux boiler shall
not be used for HFO storage tank heating while WHB not in operation as applicable.
Proper communication and attention shall be assured for deck operations to prevent usage
of excessive air or steam which can cause high fuel consumption.

CALLING CHIEF ENGINEER
