-Ethiopia is a country located in the Horn of Africa,
the eastern region of the African continent.
-There are more than 200,000 people from eight
unique Omo communities in Ethiopia.

The Lower Omo Valley in southwestern Ethiopia is a scenic

region with diverse ecosystems including
grasslands, volcanoes and one of the few remaining
(primary) riparian forests in semi-arid Africa. The climate
in the lower Omo Valley is hot, with temperatures 35°C. The
rainy season lasts from April to October, with the heaviest
rainfall from June to August.
The tribes in the lower Omo
Valley have distinct cultures,
They are primarily
pastoralist, relying on cattle
for their livelihoods, with
some practicing agriculture
and fishing.
The indigenous communities in the Lower Omo Valley of Ethiopia
have historically managed their lands and resources communally,
using customary laws and practices to regulate access to land,
water, and other natural resources.

The current leader of Ethiopia is Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. He

has been in office since April 2018.

The social organization of the indigenous tribes of the Omo Valley

in Ethiopia is primarily based on clan lineages and age sets. Each
tribe has its own of clans, and certain clans may hold particular
religious or ritual offices. The Mursi, for example, have a priestly
clan called Komortê, as well as priestly families in the Garikuli and
Bumai clans.
