SUBJECT NAME SYLLABUS

English Language & This exam is based on all the units covered this year: “Rites of Passage”, “Life in Green”,
Literature “Language and Gender” and “Task 1 Bootcamp”

Duration: 2 hr Students must complete three tasks: 1) Analyzing 2) Producing Literary 3) Producing Non-

Students must:
● Analyze an unseen literary and non literary multi-media text and answer short
answer questions on these (10 marks)
● Compare and contrast both texts and create a compare and contrast Essay on the
given unseen literary and non-literary text. (20 marks)
Students will be assessed on:
● Criteria A - Analyzing (20 marks)
● Criteria B - Organizing-10 marks

Producing Literary Text: 20 marks


Students must:
● Produce a non-fiction narrative based on a given prompt. This will be based on
the “Rites of Passage” unit.
● Picture or video excerpts will be given in the assessment as prompts.
Students will be assessed on:
● Criterion C - Producing text (10 marks)
● Criterion D - Using Language (10 marks)

Producing Non-Literary text: 30 marks


Students must:
● Produce a Critical Response Essay based on an unseen video clip.
● This will be based on inquiry in Unit 1: Jack and Jill Went Up the Hill, a familiarity
with key terms and vocabulary from this unit should be exhibited.
