Ratha Saptami: An Auspicious Day

 Also called Magha Saptami, this Hindu festival observed on 16th Feb ’24 is dedicated to Lord
Surya, Lord Vishnu, and Goddess Laxmi. This day is also the birth anniversary of Lord Surya.
 Symbolizing the renewal of life and vitality, on this day the devotees visit Surya temples to
seek Lord Surya’s blessings for physical and spiritual well-being.
 Devotees take early morning bath and offer Arghya to Lord Surya by mixing jaggery or red
rose petals in the water and chant Surya mantras while offering water.
 Performing Hawan or Yajna is considered meritorious and reading Bhagwad Gita and
Ramayana is considered auspicious and helps in warding off all sufferings.
 Reciting Aditya Hriday Stotram is considered very beneficial.
 Charity to the needy and underprivileged is considered very pious this day and brings a lot of
blessings.
