UNDERGROUD RIG MECHANIC

Job Summary
Carry out all auto drill rig mechanical planned maintenance jobs, fault diagnoses and repair, had
knowledge in hydro mechanical, electrical and pneumatic on underground mobile equipment with
specialization in drill rigs. While following best industrial practices in optimizing equipment
availability and reliability.

Essential Duties
• Undertake planned hydro mechanical, electrical and pneumatic maintenance work on
underground drill rig mobile equipment.
• Diagnose and rectify all hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic faults on underground
drill rigs mobile equipment.
• Independently and safely conduct authorized hydro mechanical, electrical and
pneumatic fault on underground drill rigs.
• Follow standard laid down safety procedures and standards
• Conduct basic risk assessment on all critical task
• Accurately study and correctly interpret electrical diagrams on various OEM
Sandvik, Aramine and Epiroc underground drill rigs.
• Perform basic electronic inspection on underground drill rigs.

Key Requirements/Specification:

• Minimum of HND in Automobile /Mechanical Engineering or Automobile/ mechanical

Engineering Technician from a recognized institution
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience with engineering mobile equipment with
underground mining service of which 3 years must be in drill rigs maintenance.

Knowledge Skill and Abilities:

• Good communicator
• Good team player
• Must have critical thinking ability
• Understand and follow basic management operation system.
• Basic reporting and report writing skills
• Follow all safety, health and environmental standards
• Ability to work underground pressure
• Ability to read and interpret hydro mechanical (hydraulic/mechanical) and pneumatic
on drill rigs equipment
• Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills in drills rigs and other mobile equipment.
