CARROT
Carrot is a vegetable that is mostly orange in colour but that also depends on
the pigments that are present in them. The pigments make some carrots orange and
some purple, red, yellow, or white. Carrots are high in nutrition and have an
adequate amount of calories. The taste of the carrot depends on the size, colour,
and place where it is grown. They are sweet because of the sugar present in them
but sometimes if the amount of sugar decreases, then it may taste earthy and bitter.
This veggie is used in many dishes and can be consumed raw as a salad.
Carrots are rich in vitamins and minerals and it is said that half a cup of carrot can
give up to 73% of vitamin A, 9% of vitamin K, and 5% of vitamin C along with
fibre and potassium. It will help a person in the weight loss process and also good
for skin and face care. The beta-carotene that is present in carrots is good for your
eyes and can help a person dealing with an eyesight problem. It is observed that a
person who consumes carrot on a daily basis stays fit and healthy as carrot
improves the immune system of a person.
Carrots also reduce the risk of cancer as it contains many antioxidants which
fight the harmful radicals in the body. Two types of antioxidants are present in the
carrot i.e. carotenoids and anthocyanins. Carotenoids are responsible for the orange
and yellow colour in carrots while anthocyanins are responsible for the red and
purple colour. Also, with calcium and vitamin K, makes your bones strong, and
also with vitamin C, it will improve your immune system which is one of the
necessities in today’s time. Carrots also have a lot of benefits regarding the skin
and face. It will help in making your skin glow by killing the dead skin cells.
You can also consume carrots in liquid form such as the carrot juice, as it is
very beneficial for digestion and weight loss. Also, with the natural sugar present
in the carrot, it makes the juice even more tasty and healthy. It is believed that if
you consume carrot juice daily, then it will improve your immune system as well
as prevent the damaging of cells, inflammation, and killing other bad bacteria
which are responsible for the ill-health. Along with carrot juice, carrot soup is also
full of nutrition and health, especially in the winter season. And if you are looking
for some desserts with healthy ingredients along with carrot then carrot cake and
carrot halwa or gajar ka halwa is a very famous dessert made of fresh carrots.
So with all the benefits and nutritional facts, we can say that it is very
important to consume at least one carrot on a regular basis to make yourself and
your family healthy and fit.
