In this lesson, students will review the perimeter and learn the area.
Overview
MA.3.3.7- The student will estimate and measure the distance around a polygon
Standards of to determine its perimeter.
Learning MA.3.3.8- The student will estimate and count the number of square units to
determine the Area.
Why is measurement important?
Why do we need standard units of measure?
Essential Questions Why are estimating measures important?
How are Area and Perimeter related?
Students will be able to the estimate and measure distance to determine

Start by asking students “What is perimeter?” and then ask “Does anybody
know what area is?”
