WHO IS THE BEST ONE TO APPLY FOR BEING PART OF CEO?


You are the chairman in a hotel , your last manager decided to retire, so is necessary to promote one of your employees, most of
them have master’s degree, are experienced, unexperienced, undergraduates, have fresh ideas, some of them have no ordinary
characteristics.
WHO WILL GET THE PROMOTION? CHECK OUT THEIR BRIEFINGS.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Check out the candidates’ profiles. (All the characteristics, professional and personal)

2. Check out the issues into the company:

A) You have the pressure to choose your next CEO Manager, so there are a lot of candidates, some have earned experience, some are
proposed by your investors and the board, some are unexperienced but they have fresh ideas and can lead the company to achieve
goals.

B) You have to deal with some personal interactions of your staff members.

C) You have to avoid brain drain (fuga de cerebros).

D) You have to avoid that your members bed with competence.

1. Who deserves the CEO Manager position and explain your choice?
2. 2 staff members have problems about bullying attitude, how could you solve this situation?
3. 2 staff members have some personal problems, this could generate a non-pleasant face for the company. How could you deal
with this?
4. 2 members can be part of your future competence, (probably one of them you have to say goodbye) How to deal with the
competence?
5. One member believes that deserves the CEO Manager position because of parental relationship, how could you deal with it?
6. Who needs more training?
7. How to recognize your employees’ achievements? Mention 2 actions.

Henry 59.
Your last manager, decided to retire and spend time with family.
He loves directing the hotel, her daughter asked him a chance to be CEO
Manager.
Increased the sales of your hotel last 10 years, there is an international image from
the hotel. Overpassed the annual budget from 20% to 32% of utilities.
He is part of the board, he recommended to her daughter Kate to be his successor.
Now is time to say goodbye.

She has some serious problems about dealing with people.
She believes that Graham is attractive and thinks that Catherine is old fashioned
for business.

He is a real shark in business, has a master in finances, and was a professor in
Simon Frasier University Vancouver Canada. Speaks 4 languages, has experience in
all related your company, financial, structured, he has a grudge against the idea of
no chances, thinks: Muera el Rey, viva el Rey, do not confuse, he can stab you
or go to bed to a different
company. Possible wants your rank.

A&M in Hotel management, she knows how to sell, she knows how to deal with personnel, she wants to retire to manage her own
company (possible your competence, rival).

Rosie 29.
She studied at Riverside University tourist management, she speaks 4 languages,
she loves kitten, is divorced still loving her ex-husband, she hates Megan, because
thinks she is the lover of her ex-husband and possible the cause of breaking up
but no evidence. She does exercise she thinks that a woman can do better
things than men, has
experience in the
hotel, possible
problems of taking
revenge.

Megan 26
Vanessa studied marketing, , she thinks that is able to domain and face all the business situations, she thinks she is a happy box:
smart, clever, intelligent, and beauty, last year she got the best contract with a company from Japan that has a good investment
in the company, she is dating, Rosie´s ex-husband.
By the way she works next to Rosie’s office.

Alice 39.
Studied interior design in Royal College of Toronto Canada.
Single mom, when young she paid her own career working as a waitress in a
restaurant hotel, she knows how to deal with personnel; loves boxing tattoos
and she has some visible ones on her body, piercings. Speaks French.
She designed rooms, restaurant, lobbies, gardens, offices from the hotel,
her designs appeared in Travel and Leisure® magazine.
However, there was no recognition to her achievements, she expects that the new
CEO can give her more financial benefits. Needs paying daughter’s scholarship and
maintenance, Hans hates tattoos.

The new one, no experience, undergraduate, studied hotel management at Florida
State, some of the girls are a bit crazy for him, likes going out with friends, dating
girls, he believes that working hard can take you to the top, he wants a chance, is reliable, but problems with hierarchy, sociable
person.
He bullies to Kenny in front of the girls.

Kenny 34.
He loves working with computers, he is not married but seeking for the
correct girl, he has a master’s in programming, has a good knowledge about
the process into the company, but most of the time he is shy, he wears
khakis and polo shirts, loves football. He thinks Megan could be his
dreamed girl.
