Course Title: Life, Works, and Writings of Rizal

Course Description: - As mandated by Republic Act 1425, this course covers the life and works of the
country’s national hero, Jose Rizal. Among the topics covered are Rizal’s biography and his writings,
particularly the novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, some of his essays, and various
correspondences.

Credits: 3 Units
Pre-Requisite: None

PILO : (Based on CMO 75, s. of 2017)

At the end of this program, graduates will have the ability to:
1. Utilize appropriate various sociocultural and historical materials in explaining current issues
2. Organize communities towards self-reliance and self-sufficiency
3. Demonstrate leadership skills that will help in teaching or training students who will empower their
communities.
4. Integrate local and global perspectives in teaching the principle of the common good.
5. Employ principles of sustainable development in teaching and learning
6. Show scholarship in research and further learning

CILO :
At the end of this course, graduates will have the ability to:
1. Discuss Dr. Jose Rizal’s life within the context of 19th century Philippines
2. Analyze Rizal’s various works, particularly the novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo
3. Organize Rizal’s ideas into various themes.
4. Demonstrate a critical reading of primary sources
5. Interpret the values that can be derived from studying Rizal’s life and works.
6. Display an appreciation and love for the country.

Course Requirements:
Reporting, Quizzes, Recitations, Projects, Assignments, Individual and Group Activities, Chapter
Examinations, Reflection Papers, and Periodical Examinations.
House Rules:
1. Be on time. There will be a synchronous and an asynchronous session every week. Synchronous
sessions will be conducted during your scheduled time in this course, if there are any reasons that you
cannot attend or connect, inform your instructor ahead of time.
2. Dress appropriately during synchronous classes. Open your camera if the activity or certain
circumstance requires it and mute your microphone, but, if you have any questions and inquiries, you
can turn on your microphone. Remember to use polite and respectful words toward your instructor and
classmates.
3. Be prepared. Always be prepared and read your modules ahead of time if possible. Prepare your
requirements diligently.
4. Enjoy learning and don’t hesitate to address any of your academic concerns to your instructors.
