1.) One of the important points in the article is that students are not aware of
the entire story of Bonifacio and what happened during the Tejeros
convention. Students are not aware of the whole story during the election in
Tejeros. They do not understand Bonifacio’s side and how those magdiwang
leaders, namely, Mariano Trias, Ricarte, and Emiliano Riego De Dios, in a
way betrayed Bonifacio and their loyalty to the Magdiwang. Another important
point in the article is the voting itself. The voting numbers did not add up and if
it were to be rechecked and done in a more organized manner, it would raise
suspicions as to how Emilio Aguinaldo was able to win presidency when most
of the people present at the Tejeros convention were from the Magdiwang.
Aside from this, another important point as stated in the article was how the
ballots were already tampered with before distribution to the voters. Some of
the ballots given already had names on them and based on the accounts,
they were all written by the same hand. Lastly, we see how Andres Bonifacio
was killed off by the same revolution that he started in the first place.

2.) The issues discussed by the author are important to me in such a way that
they enlighten me on what really happened, and not just what was accepted
by our people. I learn how Andres Bonifacio was not doing anything wrong by
getting frustrated over the result because if what the author of the article says
is true, then Bonifacio was cheated of his rightful position. People call
Bonifacio a hothead for what he did but in truth, he only did this because it
was not a fair election. He walked out and called the election void because,
he could not see how Emilio Aguinaldo could have possibly won the election
against him. This is important to me because all my life, I have always
accepted Emilio Aguinaldo as the first president of the Republic of the
Philippines based on what was taught to me in my earlier schooling. I always
saw Aguinaldo as this was hero who was looked up to by everyone, except
Bonifacio of course. But, now that I have been enlightened by this article, I
see how Aguinaldo could have possibly cheated his satay into presidency and
how Bonifacio could have or should have been the rightful person to lead our
country at the time.

3.) As a student and Filipino youth, I feel that, this should be included in our
history and should be bluntly discussed when it comes to our education.
Everyone should be well aware of what really happened and then they should
be the one’s to judge who was right or wrong in the situation. By only stating
what people want to state in our history, which is that Emilio Aguinaldo is the
rightful leader, is to lie to every single Filipino because even silence about a
fact is also lying. I learned a lot from the article that helped me decipher who
is right or wrong in the situation. I can’t do anything now to change the course
of history, however, by learning this, I am able to change my point of view on
the Tejeros convention, Philippine governance, and Filipino culture as a
whole. As degrading as it may sound, corruption has been evident even from
the very beginning of our governance.
