process.Furthermore, the writer tells the good images of sailing with the rule of three“to women, to
young people, and to those from different groups within society.”She also describes the problems

speech “ All of the money for this, none of it comes from the school, it’s all money” ,the vivid
description, she implies to get attention from the readers. The use of list “sweet wrappers… damp
socks and an overflowing sink”is also vivid description to show the preparation of racers. The writer
displays the race is being challenging for teenagers “the boys were not onboard for comfort, they
were there for the Challenge”. The rule of three “rough weather, being becalmed for several hours,
and they’ve gained lots of things” is showing how they struggle these terrible situations and how
challenging as a sailor. The writer also presents the benefits from this Yacht Race “gained an
understanding…, learn interpersonal skills…,how to manage themselves, and they’ve learnt is
resilience”.She explains though the sailing has many benefits, it is a dangerous sport “it was a good
experience but never again”.The use of onomatopoeia “ buzzing”and emotive language “exhilarating”
induces the text is to be more alive.the fact that she also uses vivid, detailed descriptions “steering
the boat, surfing downwind … with very big waves”makes the text more alive as the readers are
