Class 10
Topic: Pair of Linear Equations in two variables
Name: Date:

1. Find the value of k for which the following system of linear equations has infinite
solutions
x+(k+1)y=5
(k+1)x+9y=8k-1

2. Find the values of α andβ for which the following system of linear equations has
(a) a unique solution
(b) no solution

2x+3y=7
2αx+ ( α + β ) y=28

3. Determine the value of k so that the following linear equations have no solution:
(3k+1)x +3y =2
(k2+1) x+ (k−¿2)y =5

4. Determine whether the system has a unique solution, no solution or infinitely many
solutions
(a) 2x+y=5 (b) 2x−¿3y =6 (c) 2x+3y =12

4x+2y =10 x +y=1 6x+ 9y = 4

5. Solve using the elimination method:

(a) 3x+2y =11 (b) x+3y=140 (c) 4x+6y=14

2x+3y =4 3x+4y =360 9x −¿6y =12

(d) Solve for x and y.

4x + y/3 = 8/3 ;

x/2 + 3y/4 = -5/2

6. Solve by substitution method:

(a) x−¿2y =30
x−¿y = 20

(b) 7x−¿2y =−¿1

14x −¿3y =2
