I was on the platform during one of our camp meetings at a

Stadium, looking over at the congregation as they
worshiped and offered themselves up to God.
This great sight was overwhelming as I saw genuine and

INTRODUCTION
T
he defeat that many Christians experience in their lives
is a great reflection of their understanding of
Christianity. Many have come to know Christianity as a
life of suffering and struggling to please God as though He were
a dictator who takes pleasure in pains.
Although we cannot divorce Christianity from sufferings as the

Apostle Peter details in his writings, it is evidently revealed as a
life of victory and triumph twenty four seven. John the Beloved
tells us clearly that 'he that is born of God overcomes the world.'
(I John 5:4). This kind of victory has not been experienced by
many because they have not understood the Words of Jesus when
He said 'I would not leave you comfortless, helpless or orphans.'
(John 14:18). And even though the Holy Ghost has come, they
remain orphans and helpless in the world.
This is He of Whom John spoke when he referred to the

ministry of Jesus.
“…he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost

and with fire.”
Luke 3:16b
Can it be that the absence of the Comforter Whom John spoke
about and Jesus confirmed be the reason for the struggles earlier

discussed? And what does the fire referenced in the scripture
above mean? How can we obtain it? This is what this book is
about.
In this book, we shall take the time to see who the Spirit of God
is and how His unhindered operation in our lives is the meaning
of being on fire for God. As believers, we have not been sent to
live our Christian lives alone. The Holy Spirit has been sent
alongside us to enable us have a successful Christian experience.
Today many believers are filled with the Holy Spirit but find it
difficult to maintain the fire. This expository text would enable
you maintain an ever blazing Christian life.

BURNING FOR THE LORD
CHAPTER ONE
THE SPIRIT IS THE FIRE
W e all know that it is the nature of fire to burn. It

consumes, controls and influences everything in
its path. When a substance is set on fire, it comes
under the influence of the fire and burns. Hence being on fire is
not ambiguous like many presume or profess.
Being on fire is not being erratic or being confused. It is not

youthful exuberance or having an uncontrollable zeal, or a slang
for describing a young Christian or an excited new convert.
Many in their ignorance have claimed to be on fire for God when

in actual fact they were simply displaying foolishness in God's
name. Indeed they were on fire but not for God as we are about
to see.
Let us learn from a building on fire. When we say a building is

on fire, what we are saying is that;

i Fire has entered or started in the building.

ii Fire is rapidly consuming the building and its elements.
iii Fire is determining the building – meaning that the fire
would determine the outcome of the building including
its final features.
iv Fire is what you see or would eventually see when you
look to the building.
Furthermore, it is important to know that God is a fire and that

is why we can be on fire (consumed and influenced) burning
with and for Him.
“For our God is a consuming fire.”

Hebrew 12:29
“And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst

of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but
saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice.”
Deuteronomy 4:12
The Holy Spirit who is God's way of manifesting Himself on the

earth is also in manifestation revealed as or in association with
fire, making the true fire of God inseparable from the person of
the Holy Spirit.
“And the angel (Spirit) of the LORD appeared

unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of

a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush

burned with fire, and the bush was not
consumed.”
Exodus 3:2
“And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines

shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD
came mightily upon him, and the cords that
were upon his arms became as flax that was
burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off
his hands.”
Judges 15:14
“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come,

they were all with one accord in one place. And
suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of
a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the
house where they were sitting. And there
appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of
fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they
were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began
to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave
them utterance.”
Acts 2: 1 - 4

To be on fire therefore is to be filled or totally swallowed up or

consumed by the Holy Spirit who is God Himself in manifestation
on the earth. In other words, being on fire for God is a
declaration that;
i The Spirit of God has entered into one's life.
ii The Spirit of God is rapidly consuming the elements of
that person's life.
iii The Spirit of God is determining the outcome of that life
i.e. character, happenings and experiences.
iv The Spirit of God is what you would see or eventually
see when you look at the person.
“And there appeared unto them cloven tongues

like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And
they were all filled with the Holy Ghost.”
Acts 2:3-4a
So being on fire is not the same as youthful exuberance or

common zeal. It is being fully swallowed up in God's fire and
being engulfed by it such as to transfer or impart God's ability
and His quality into our lives.
However we can only be on fire when we are full of the Holy

Ghost. This is further buttressed in our examination of the word
used for 'filled' in the Greek text. The word 'filled' is from the

Greek word 'pletho' which means to influence. It is in this regard

that Jesus used another word in the Greek, 'enduo.'
“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father

upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem,
until ye be endued with power
from on high.”
Luke 24:49
This in-filling means an endowment which is an impartation of

ability or quality. In other words, it is the state of being 'taken
over by,' 'consumed' or 'engulfed by.’
It then follows that we

are on fire for God
when the Spirit of God
fills us, consumes and
engulfs our lives with
His qualities and
abilities. If this is so,
then a man on fire is
imparted with the
qualities of understanding, revelation, judgment, might,
holiness, power, self-control, wisdom, success, etc., as these are
qualities, abilities and workings of the Spirit of God. This then

must be apart from the foolish and silly acts and the resultant
failure that some who claimed to be on fire have displayed.
Scriptures show us that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Wisdom

and faith.
"And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise

hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of
wisdom, that they may make Aaron's garments
to consecrate him that he may minister unto me
in the priest's office.”
Exodus 28:3
“And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit

of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon
him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto
him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.”
Deuteronomy 34:9
Thus anyone who is on fire or under the total influence of the

Holy Spirit will manifest this wisdom and faith.

CHAPTER TWO
WHEN THE FIRE BURNS
I n the previous chapter, we saw that being on fire is being

filled, endued, and engulfed with the Spirit of God and
hence possessing His qualities and abilities. This makes
living a successful Christian life apart from this fire a near
impossible task.
“And the saying pleased the whole multitude:

and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith
and of the Holy Ghost…”
Acts 6:5
The scriptures constantly portray men of great virtue and power

whose lives keep challenging us in every generation as men of
faith. However, we seem to overlook the fact that these men were
only able to live this way because they were on fire for God by
the in-filling of the Holy Ghost.
Let us examine the case of Stephen, a man of great power in the

early church. It is the in-filling of the Holy Spirit that imparted

into his life the virtues we would now consider as qualities of a

burning fire.
Qualities of a burning fire
1. To be on fire is to be full of faith.
“And Stephen, full of faith and power, did

great wonders and miracles among the
people.”
Acts 6:8
It is the Spirit of God that causes faith to be imparted into our
hearts so that we see no impossibility. When a man despairs and
feels like giving up, he has probably lost the fire. Also a man that
considers looking back or going back to his past has lost that fire.
It is that fire of God burning within that provokes us to speak to
the mountain instead of giving up. It is the fire of God burning
inside of you that will inspire you to speak to your situation and
expect compliance.
“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall

say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and
be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in
his heart, but shall believe that those things
which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have
whatsoever he saith.”
Mark 11:23

The Spirit of God having filled us and imparting His qualities and
abilities in us, drives out every doubt and unbelief from our
hearts. In this state, we are on fire and are as bold as a lion.
“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but

the righteous are bold as a lion.”
Proverbs 28:1
Faith is a miracle activator and that is why a man on fire would

constantly experience wonders. That man cannot see drought.
He knows that whatsoever he does must prosper.
“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers

of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his
season; his leaf also shall not wither; and
whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
Psalm 1:3
This is why we see Stephen functioning in the miraculous.
And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great

wonders and miracles among the people.
Acts 6:8
No matter how many devils rise against him, the man on fire
would always conquer because his faith would quench every
dart of the enemy.

“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith

ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of
the wicked”
Ephesians 6:16
This is why also the enemies of Stephen could not withstand

him.
“And they were not able to resist the wisdom

and the spirit by which he spake.”
Acts 6: 10
He spoke by the Spirit and that was the secret of his irresistible
wisdom. The man who is full of the Spirit and by implication on
fire would not keep falling and standing but rather would stand
and walk victoriously!
“Not for that we have dominion over your

faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith
ye stand.”
2 Corinthians 1:24
“For we walk by faith, not by sight”

2 Corinthians 5:7
All the struggles in Christianity today; sin, fear, sickness, failure,

stagnation; whatever the name and however the state, are all

because of the lack of fire. Get on fire and watch the enemy bow.
Fiery faith does not take 'no' for an answer.
Again we see Peter at the gate beautiful meet with the man
impotent in his feet. He ministered and got the man healed
because he was on fire.
“Now Peter and John went up together into the

temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth
hour. And a certain man lame from his mother's
womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the
gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to
ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the
temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his
eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. And
he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive
something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and
gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee:
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up
and walk. And he took him by the right hand,
and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and
ankle bones received strength. And he leaping
up stood, and walked, and entered with them
into the temple, walking, and leaping, and
praising God. And all the people saw him…”
Acts 3:1 – 17

What does Peter attribute this miracle to? Let's read further.
“Why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by

our own power or holiness we had made this
man to walk? The God of Abraham, and of
Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, …
And his name through faith in his name hath
made this man strong, whom ye see and know:
yea, the faith which is by him hath given him
this perfect soundness in the presence of you
all.”
Acts 3:12,13a, 16
Peter's statement here shows us that it is the faith which is by the

Holy Spirit in us that culminates in such outstanding miracles.
As we constantly yield ourselves to get filled with His Spirit, we
are getting ready to see more of these miracles in our days.
2. To be on fire is to be filled with wisdom.
“And they were not able to resist the wisdom

and the spirit by which he spake.”
Acts 6:10
Irresistible wisdom is the product of the fire of God. How can you
be on fire and not know what to do to move forward in life? A

man who constantly makes mistakes lacks wisdom and the lack
of wisdom may be because of the absence of the fire of God. The
Spirit of God that fills up the man on fire is referred to as the
Spirit of Wisdom.
“And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him,

the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the
spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of
knowledge and of the fear of the LORD”
Isaiah 11:2
In the book of Daniel, when King Nebuchadnezzar wanted an

interpretation for his dream and was going to put all his advisers
to death, Daniel as a man on fire refused to perish with them
because being on fire is being full of the Spirit and being full of
the Spirit is being filled with wisdom.
“Then came in the magicians, the astrologers,

the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers: and I told
the dream before them; but they did not make
known unto me the interpretation thereof. But
at the last Daniel came in before me, whose
name was Belteshazzar, according to the name
of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy
gods: and before him I told the dream, saying,
O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians,
because I know that the spirit of the holy gods

is in thee, and no secret troubleth thee, tell me

the visions of my dream that I have seen, and
the interpretation thereof.”
Daniel 4: 7 – 9
If you read ahead, you see how Daniel by the wisdom of the
Spirit brought interpretation and direction to the life of the King.
This is being on fire!
3. To be on fire is to be filled with power.
When one is on fire, he is full of the power of the Spirit and the
fire of this power sends demon packing!
“Then he called his twelve disciples together,

and gave them power and authority over all
devils, and to cure diseases”
Luke 9:1
“And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great

wonders and miracles among the people”
Acts 6:8

It is a sad thing today that

many believers are
demonized. The Devil has
a filled day in their lives
and does whatsoever he
pleases. Yet the bible
shows us that a man full
of the Spirit is full of
power. And a man full of
power has authority over the devils and can cure the diseases
they cause. It is thus evident that the presence of demonic
activities is an indication of the absence of God's fire.
It is one thing to have the Holy Spirit like every believer but it is
something entirely different to be consumed, engulfed and
totally subdued by the Spirit of God. This is another way to define
the term or phrase, “being on fire.”
John spoke of Jesus as a man on fire.
“I indeed baptize you with water unto

repentance: but he that cometh after me is
mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy
to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy
Ghost, and with fire.”
Matthew 3: 11

Only a man on fire can set others on fire. The Bible reports of
Jesus:
“And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost
returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit
into the wilderness”
Luke 4:1
“And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit

into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him
through all the region round about.”
Luke 4:14
When we are on fire with the spirit of God, we walk and

demonstrate the power of God. We can go out and return in that
power as long as we maintain that fire.
“And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit

into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him
through all the region round about. And in the
synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit
of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud
voice, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do
with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou
come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art;
the Holy One of God. And Jesus rebuked him,

saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.

And when the devil had thrown him in the
midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.
And they were all amazed, and spake among
themselves, saying, What a word is this! for
with authority and power he commandeth the
unclean spirits, and they come out.”
Luke 4:14,33-36
Even in Simon's house, we see the same effect of being on fire.
“ And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a

great fever; and they besought him for her. And
he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it
left her: and immediately she arose and
ministered unto them.”
Luke 4:38-39
His fire manifested in power and miracles and in casting out

devils.
“Now when the sun was setting, all they that

had any sick with divers diseases brought them
unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of
them, and healed them. And devils also came
out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art
Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them

suffered them not to speak: for they knew that

he was Christ. And when it was day, he
departed and went into a desert place: and the
people sought him, and came unto him, and
stayed him, that he should not depart from
them.”
Luke 4:14, 33 – 42
It is not possible to be on fire and have demons perching all

around you. Get on fire and get them packing.
4. To be on fire is to preach God's word with soul touching

power:
“When they heard these things, they were cut

to the heart…”
Acts 7: 54
I want you to also see another instance when Peter preached in

Acts 2.
“Now when they heard this, they were pricked

in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the
rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what
shall we do?”
Acts 2: 37

These men got the same result when they spoke because they
had something in common – the fire of God, which is a product
of the in-filling of the Holy Spirit.
“Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said

unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders
of Israel,”
Acts 4:8
Many preach but

few get results
simply because of
the absence of the
in-filling of the
Spirit. I love to
preach because
each time I stand to
speak, I know and
experience the
overflow of the Holy Ghost. Many times I say things I have never
heard or premeditated because of the fire. Your preaching can
have a lot of powerful quotes and yet be powerless.
“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh

profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto
you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
John 6: 63

Yes! It is the Spirit that quickens or raises from the dead. The
power to minister and to touch men in their hearts is the work
of the Spirit and it is only possible to those filled by Him. This is
what makes us ministers, it is not merely by attending a Bible
School or being eloquent.
“Who also hath made us able ministers of the

new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit:
for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.”
2 Corinthians 3:6
The Spirit of God changes or conditions the atmosphere

regardless of what you are preaching. Sometimes the spirit of
God might even use seemingly foolish things to confound the
wise.
“Because the foolishness of God is wiser than

men; and the weakness of God is stronger than
men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that
not many wise men after the flesh, not many
mighty, not many noble, are called: But God
hath chosen the foolish things of the world to
confound the wise; and God hath chosen the
weak things of the world to confound the things
which are mighty; And base things of the
world, and things which are despised, hath God

chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring

to nought things that are: That no flesh should
glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ
Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and
righteousness, and sanctification, and
redemption:”
1Corinthians 1:25 – 30
So do not major on cramming and learning great words but

catch the Spirit. Get filled with the Spirit and burn!!!

CHAPTER THREE
THE ESSENCE OF THE FIRE
T
here is another dimension of work that the Holy Spirit
does in us, which is worth studying. This is what I refer
to as the essence of the fire.
Just like the presence of fire to its environment, the Holy Spirit,
who is God's fire, works in us to purify, energize and enlighten
our hearts.
Purifying
The fire of God is a sanctifier. It purifies our heart. A wise man
once said “flies only perch on cold stoves.” How true!
When the fire of God is burning in your life, everything that is

not of God either stays away from you or is under your authority.
“And this is the condemnation, that light is

come into the world, and men loved darkness
rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light,

neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should

be reproved.”
John 3:19 – 20
The fire of God makes you a house of light where evil cannot
remain. You find in you the right appetite as you allow the fire
of God to burn in you.
Prophetic message: As you are reading right now, the essence of

God's fire is falling on you from the crown of your head to the
soles of your feet. Go ahead and thank Him. Receive the word of
the prophet.
“… Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye

be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye
prosper.”
I Chronicles 20:20
The fire of God upon my ministry is dissolving a fibroid in a body

right now that would fall out in few days’ time. Praise Him, thank
Him and receive it. Be free now!
I command everything that is not of God to flee now. I see a

handwriting against you now being destroyed by the fire of God.
That evil spirit that has come to sit in your business is running
away now because of the essence of God's fire. What you are

experiencing now is what I call the essence of the fire. I

command an all-round purification. In Jesus Name. Amen.
Evil thoughts and evil desires are the symptoms of a fireless life.
They would disappear from you as you set yourself on fire
through the revelation in this book.
Energizing
In the world today, we know that fire is a source of energy. The

energy we get from fire can be transferred from one form to
another which can be used to power systems.
Similarly, the fire of

God energizes your
spirit. This energy can
then be used to
energize your body and
your mind. You cannot
lack energy when the
fire of God is upon your
tabernacle.
“But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration

of the Almighty giveth them understanding.”
Job 32: 8

“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus

from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up
Christ from the dead shall also quicken your
mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in
you.”
Romans 8:11
If you ask a battery charger, he will tell you that batteries are
energized by fire. This is because in the presence of fire, all the
positive and negative charges realign, creating a potential
difference which is the evidence of energy. So when we burn
with the fire of God, our priorities are reordered, everything is
repositioned in our lives. Our vision becomes separate from our
emotions. Then we are ready to move forward.
The fire of God inside you will keep you going, no matter what
the present situation is. The fire of God will also make you see
the glory of God in every challenge, persecution, rejection and
trial.
Enlightening
The daylight we know is the result of the hot burning sun. Thus
we have sight and see simply because of the influence of a
burning fire. Similarly our bedside lights are the results of
burning tungsten wires. Even down to the village, fire is the
source of visibility.

When God's fire burns in us, we see clearly in our hearts the will,
purpose and counsel of God.
“Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is

the light with you. Walk while ye have the light,
lest darkness come upon you: for he that
walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he
goeth.”
John 12:35
The absence of fire is the reason many believers walk in the dark
and go astray. The fire of God in our lives enlightens our hearts
so that we know the truth.
We will experience guidance in our spiritual walk as long as that

fire of God is burning in us. Can you see why we just must be on
fire?
“The eyes of your understanding being

enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope
of his calling, and what the riches of the glory
of his inheritance in the saints”
Ephesians 1:18
As we live full of the Holy Spirit, we would be open to the

revelation of God’s word. I know by revelation that I can never

be poor because and I have accessed God's mind concerning my

prosperity in the scriptures.
“For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,

that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he
became poor, that ye through his poverty might
be rich.”
2 Corinthians 8:9
“And God is able to make all grace abound

toward you; that ye, always having all
sufficiency in all things, may abound to every
good work.”
2 Corinthians 9:8
“According as his divine power hath given unto

us all things that pertain unto life and
godliness, through the knowledge of him that
hath called us to glory and virtue”
2 Peter 1:3

Many years ago, as a

young believer, I was
writing my University
Matriculation
Examination. In my
excitement in the
examination hall, I
spent too much time on
three of the subjects,
having not started the
fourth. To my amazement, it was announced that we had 15
minutes to end of the exam. I went into the fourth paper and
could only answer about eight out of fifty question. My faith was
shaken that period. I was no longer sure that I would pass as I
considered and pondered on the possibility of passing with just
eight out of fifty on the fourth paper.
“But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For

he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven
with the wind and tossed. For let not that man
think that he shall receive any thing of the
Lord.”
James 1:6-7
But I was set on fire and enlightened by two scriptures that

immediately gave me the assurance of my victory regardless of
my shortcoming. Here they are:

“The LORD will perfect that which concerneth

me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever:
forsake not the works of thine own hands.”
Psalms 138:8
“Being confident of this very thing, that he

which hath begun a good work in you will
perform it until the day of Jesus Christ”
Philippians 1:6
With this revelation and light, I went ahead and announced my

admission to my Dad who asked me enthusiastically “when were
the results released?” I replied, “God told me.” He walked away
disappointed. Yet I was already approved by faith.
It came true as I said. My name was on the first batch of the

admission list to study Electrical Engineering. This is what the
fire of God does in us. This light makes us see beyond what mere
men can see.
Glory! Halleluyah!! Thank you Lord!!!

CHAPTER FOUR
CONTACTING FIRE BY THE WORD
N
this;
o matter how strong a fire is, it requires fuel to stay
alive. Wood is one of the earliest examples of fuel that
was used to keep a fire alive. Even the Bible shows us
“Where no wood is, there the fire goeth

out…”
Proverbs 26:20
As earlier established, the Holy Spirit is the fire of God. Hence, to

be baptized with the Spirit is to receive the fire of God.
Nonetheless, to stay on fire, we must keep the fire burning. This
means we would be requiring fuel.
“Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out…”

Proverbs 26:20
What is that wood?
“Then I said, I will not make mention of him,

nor speak any more in his name. But his word

was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in

my bones, and I was weary with forbearing,
and I could not stay”
Jeremiah 20:9
In the above scripture, we see that Jeremiah was about lose the
fire because of the persecution he was facing but he found
reinforcement for the fire by the word of God that was in his
heart. This is because the word of God is a fuel for the fire of God.
The word of God is
thus the wood
required to keep the
fire burning.
Many believers have

lost their fire
because they have
lost contact with the
wood. Fire grows in
the presence of wood. So also, when you meditate on the Word
of God, the Holy Spirit fills you up thus increasing the fire that
burns in you.
This is why the foremost fire man, Paul the apostle admonishes
us:

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in

all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one
another in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the
Lord.”
Colossians 3:16
If indeed you want to be that man on fire for God, you have to
conclude on meditation as your live wire. It must be your life,
your food, your drink so as to consume your thoughts. Nothing
can set you on fire like the word of God. Therefore, go for
meditation. Remember;
“In the beginning was the Word, and the
Word was with God, and the Word was
God...And the word became flesh and dwelt
among us…”
John 1:1, 14
See what the Bible tells us the Word would do when He comes;
“I indeed baptize you with water unto

repentance: but he that cometh after me is
mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy
to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy
Ghost, and with fire”
Matthew 3:11

When the word comes into your heart, it multiplies the fire that
is in your heart. Hallelujah! So, what are you waiting for? Get on
fire! Each time you sit and listen to the Word of God either on
CD or even in your meditation you receive a baptism of fire.
My earliest experience of feeling the anointing or Holy Ghost fire

on my body was when I studied and meditated on the Word. The
longer I stayed studying and meditating, the hotter I felt it all
over me. This
experience drew me
so close to the Word
because I always
wanted to feel that
fire burn on my skin.
One service, after I

had ministered the
Word of God to our
congregation, one
lady walked up to me and narrated her experience as she sat
under the ministration of the Word as a first timer. She testified
that as the Word kept coming, she suddenly found herself
speaking in tongues in response. She did not understand what
was happening hence she tried to shut it up! But again and again
she heard herself speak those strange words. At this time, she
began to wonder what was happening to her.

At the end of the message I said “lift up your hands, thank the
Lord.” To her amazement she just opened her mouth and spoke
in an entirely new language. She was gloriously filled with the
Holy Spirit as she heard the word. Glory to God!
You also need to cultivate the habit of studying and mediating

on the word on your own.
“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy

closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray
to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father
which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”
Matthew 6:6
If you burn in your privacy, you would burn in the open as well.
This is the key to spiritual renewal. The longer you stay
meditating on the word of God (mixing the word inside), the
more the anointing of God will show forth in your everyday life.
You need to sit and listen to the word of God with your heart and
be open to receive knowledge, revelation and understanding.
Simply put, you need to have an expectant, longing heart. This
knowledge, revelation and understanding can come through
audio and video messages and books. Meditate on them. 'Eat'
them, 'drink' them and the word would announce you to your
world. I am a product of this!

CHAPTER FIVE
CONTACTING FIRE BY WORSHIP
N o man can ever stay long enough under the sun

without clothes or shelter and not get hot.
“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun

of righteousness arise with healing in his wings;
and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of
the stall.”
Malachi 4:2
Jesus is the Sun of Righteousness. Therefore as we surrender in

His presence in true heartfelt worship, we would eventually get
hot – burning with His fire.
“Ye worship ye know not what: we know what

we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the
hour cometh, and now is, when the true
worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit
and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to

worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that

worship him must worship him in spirit and in
truth.”
John 4:22—24
The devil does not want you to worship because he knows that
worshiping is a powerful spiritual principle that keeps you
burning hence he cannot trample on you. In worship, you open
up your spirit in surrender for another to enter. This is how
many get themselves possessed with evil spirits.
Worship opens you

up to the spirit realm
almost faster than
any spiritual
exercise. Thus
worship of God
opens up your spirit
to God so that all
that he is begins to
flow into you.
My greatest times in worship are those times when tears flow

freely. This occurs when I am expressing my heart in truth.
Many people just sing and repeat songs and that is why they
never experience the Spirit of God. The scripture says in 'spirit

and in truth.' Notice the word truth – that is, sincerity. You just
tell him exactly how you feel and move from your feeling to the
truth of who He is to you and the reality of who He says you are.
Sincerity in worship purifies your conscience, purges you and
brings you into oneness with Him. Hallelujah!
Sometimes I love to worship with music in the background. That

can really help to lift your Spirit. Each time I flow in sincere
worship, I literally feel the fire of God burning so strong that it
gets on my skin. It begins to drop like liquid fire on my feet, head,
and back until it engulfs me. This is one of the fastest ways to
keep fire of God in you burning.

CHAPTER SIX
CONTACTING FIRE BY PRAYER
O
ne of the greatest fuels for the fire of the holy Ghost
is praying in other tongues.
“He that speaketh in an unknown tongue

edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth
edifieth the church.”
I Corinthians 14:4
The Greek word translated 'edify' is the word “oikodomeo”

which means to 'construct or build-up' which is akin to the
building up of electrical charges in a battery in a process known
as charging.
When we speak in tongues, we charge up ourselves. When you

speak more and more in tongues, it goes beyond a charge to a
fire which will lead to an explosion in your spirit. You know that
you can over-charge a battery and cause an explosion and an
outburst of fire. Speaking in tongues produces this kind of fire.

Paul was a man of the Spirit. He admonished believers to be

continually filled with the Spirit.
“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is

excess; but be filled with the Spirit”
Ephesians 5:18
This filling he shows us is done or achieved by speaking.
“... speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns

and spiritual songs, singing and making melody
in your heart to the Lord”
Ephesians 5:19
This we know is true of his own life as he records;
“I thank my God, I speak with tongues more

than ye all:”
I Corinthians 14:18
He spoke in tongues till he was fully charged and then he spoke

more and began to burn with that fire. You can join the queue.
Get on fire by speaking in other tongues.

Most times, when you begin to speak in tongues, you may find it
so difficult. And the more you stay away from speaking in
tongues the more
difficult it is to start. Have
you noticed that the more
you leave your car or
generator without use,
the more difficult they
become to start and
hence require more
energy or effort to run?
The good news however is that it will eventually start. So do not

dodge or avoid speaking in tongues. As you begin and observe
the difficulty, just set your mind on the state or level you wish to
achieve.
Keep that picture before you and keep readjusting your mind for
the purpose of shifting focus from your environment into the
realms of the spirit. Soon, you would notice the Spirit beginning
to take over your mortal body and soon you would find that the
tongues are getting faster and faster. Very soon you would be
totally away from your feeling and never want to stop. It is at this
point the fire begins to burn.

Concentration is also a very vital aspect because speaking in

tongues is a thing of the spirit. Thus, you must fight against
distractions of any kind when you set out to pray in tongues.
It is important that we all take advantage of speaking in tongues

because it brings empowerment into our spirit. When you speak
in tongues, a lot happens in the spirit that the mind cannot even
pick or comprehend. Things are broken, destroyed and the
desired is planted. This is your moment to enter into another
dimension and level of fire.
Therefore get yourself out of that comfort zone and start

speaking in tongues. Release your body, soul and spirit in this
realm. So what will you do now? Place your hands on this same
page and speak in tongues now.

CHAPTER SEVEN
CONTACTING FIRE BY TOUCH
F
ire can be obtained by a direct contact with a person on
fire. This is what I refer to as a conductive source of fire.
In physics, conduction involves the passage of energy,
particularly heat or electricity through something. See these
scriptures;

Deuteronomy 34:9
“And God wrought special miracles by the

hands of Paul: So that from his body were
brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons,
and the diseases departed from them, and the
evil spirits went out of them.”
Acts 19: 11 – 13

“And when Paul had laid his hands upon them,

the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake
with tongues, and prophesied.”
Acts 19:6
You can receive the in-filling of the Holy Spirit, which is what
being on fire is about, by the laying on of hands. Your physical
contact with a person or a material that has made contact with
that person can transfer the fire of that fellow into your life in an
atmosphere of faith.

Deuteronomy 34: 9
This is why I know right

now that as your hands are
making contact with this
material, the fire of God in
my life is being transferred
into your life by
conduction. Can you say
amen to that?

I feel that fire burning right now. I pray for you that you would
experience this grace of God in you life. I impart on this page,
the fire of God on my life. Lord let the fire on this page engulf
whosoever and whatsoever the people believe for, right now! In
Jesus name! Amen.

CHAPTER EIGHT
CONTACTING FIRE BY PROXIMITY
I n electricity, there is a concept of energy transfer called

electro-magnetic induction. This is the process by which
electric or magnetic forces are generated in a circuit (i.e.
transferred) by being in proximity to an electric or magnetic
field or a varying current without physical contact.
Simply put, induction is the transfer of energy from one

conductor to another without physical contact.
Unlike conduction, in induction, there might be no physical

contact yet energy, power or fire can be transferred. Many
Christians are too used to the 'touch of the garment' revelation
that they always fight to touch a pastor to get the fire. This is
good but if touching or physical contact is not possible, you can
still get the fire by induction.
Through the instrumentality of words or just by sitting in that

hall where that person is ministering or even in his absence right

in the person's house, you can key in by revelation of induction

into the fire in that person's life. Hallelujah. Watch this;
“While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy
Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.”
Acts 10:44
“And Mary arose in those days, and went into

the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;
And entered into the house of Zacharias, and
saluted Elisabeth. And it came to pass, that,
when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary,
the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was
filled with the Holy Ghost: And she spake out
with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou
among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy
womb. And whence is this to me, that the
mother of my Lord should come to me? For, lo,
as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in
mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for
joy.”
Luke 1:39 – 44
Wow! Did you see that? Glory! Glory!! Glory!!!
Sometime in the year 2010, I ministered to someone on phone.

Soon, I began to feel the fire of the Spirit all over me as we began

to speak in tongues with increasing intensity. As we moved on to

higher dimensions in the spirit, I said 'receive the fire of the Holy
Ghost.' When I said that, the line went off but I continued
speaking in other tongues. She came back again and heard me
speaking and the line went off again. At that time, I began to
wonder what was going on but in my spirit, I just knew she was
under the power of the Holy Ghost.
When she finally called back the third time, she said “I was
under the power of the Holy Spirit that I fell down. When I came
up the second time I could not carry the phone anymore. I kept
rising and falling until I could not move again.” This is the power
of God at work without a physical contact. Amen!
Another scenario was a lady who called me to testify what

happened to her when she was reading the first print of this
book.

“As I was going

through the book,” she
began, “my body
started burning and I
was so amazed but I
started speaking in
tongues with so much
passion. This has never
happened to me
before.”
Now can you see what you are about to get into? As you can see
from the above testimonies, the fire is transferred to someone
without physical contact by virtue of spiritual impartation.
However, for a transfer to take place in spiritual impartation, you
have to respond to the Spirit and release your spirit because in
this aspect, physical contact is not required. This transfer of fire
can also be possible by you calling it forth in faith, believing that
you will receive it.
When words of prophecy and fire are spoken over you without
any physical contact, you have to believe first and receive it in
faith, knowing that something has just been deposited into you
without a touch.

I command the fire of God upon your life right now by induction
in the Name of Jesus through this Word. Amen. Go ahead and
receive!
