Derive the differential equation for translational mechanical system shown below,

2. Develop the dynamic model, assuming

that mass of bar is negligible compared
to attached mass 𝑚2 and angular
motions are small.

3. A mechanical system with a rotating wheel of mass 𝑚𝑤

(uniform mass distribution). Springs and dampers are
connected to wheel using a flexible cable without skip on
wheel. Write all the modeling equations for translational and
rotational motion, and derive the translational motion of 𝑥 as
a function of input motion 𝑢

4. Write the differential equation for the rotational system in Fig-

(a). The rod is supported by bearings at either end and is
undergoing torsion. A torque is applied at the left, and the
displacement is measured at the right.
5. In the system shown in Fig-2, the inertia, 𝐽, of radius, 𝑟, is
constrained to move only about the stationary axis 𝐴. A viscous
damping force of translational value 𝑏, exists between the
bodies 𝐽 and 𝑀. If an external force, 𝑓(𝑡), is applied to the
mass, find the differential equation.

6. Given the combined translational and rotational system shown in Fig-3, find the differential
equation,

7. Fig-4 shows a quarter-car model

commonly used for analyzing suspension
systems. The car's tire is considered to act
as a spring without damping, as shown.
The parameters of the model are
𝑀𝑏 = car's body mass
𝑀𝑢𝑠 = wheel's mass
𝐾 𝑎 = strut's spring constant
𝐾𝑡 = tire's spring constant
𝑏 = strut's damping constant
𝑟 = road disturbance (input)
𝑥𝑠 = car's vertical displacement
𝑥𝑤 = wheel's vertical displacement
8. For each of the rotational mechanical systems shown in Fig-5, write, the equations of motion.
