The overall health in some communities may be compromised due to infectious diseases, environmental

hazards, violence, poverty, accidents, and injuries. A community health nurse identifies people in need
and reaches out to them. Whether they are helping young pregnant women, the elderly, or victims of
crime, community health nurses spearhead efforts to aid vulnerable groups of people.

Exposure to the community provided the group an opportunity to develop critical thinking skills in
assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the health problems of the people and interventions
needed to address them. We have learned in the classroom various concepts and knowledge that helped
us during the exposure. It allowed us to understand that the responsibilities of nurses are not only
limited to hospital settings but also to the community setting. We have also learned to be always
strategic and only utilize what is available in the community to intervene in the health concerns of the
patients. It was also during this time that the planned activities can be changed at any time depending
on the needs of the people. It helped us manage our time better, which makes our interventions efficient
and cater to several people within a short period of time.
