Exercise 1:

a) Lowpass filter
- Implementation of the lowpass filter

- Value of the components after the measurement

−7
R=33 0Ω∧C=10 F

V out
- At V =5 V and frequency 1k Hz, =1
V¿
- Table of values:

Frequency(Hz) 10 100 1k 4823 10k 100k

V out
1 1 1 0.709 0.451 0
V¿

1 V 1
- At f = ≈ 4823 Hz , out =0.709 ≈ , so the cut-off frequency is 4823Hz,
2 πRC V¿ √2
which is approximately equal to the theory.
- Some comments:
V out
 Before f reaches the cut-off frequency, the value decreases slightly but
V¿
remains close to 1.
V out
 After the cut-off frequency, the value drops significantly and go to 0.
V¿
 So the signal stable when f < cut-off frequency and weakened after that
π
- The phase difference between V ¿ ∧V out is
4
b) Highpass filter
- Implementation of the highpass filter

- Value of the components after the measurement

−7
R=330Ω∧C=10 F
V out
- At V =5 V and frequency 1k Hz, =1
V¿

- Table of values:

Frequency(Hz) 10 100 1k 4823 10k 100k

V out
0 0.063 0,219 0.709 0.859 0.982
V¿

1 V 1
- At f = ≈ 4823 Hz , out =0.709 ≈ , so the cut-off frequency is 4823Hz,
2 πRC V¿ √2
which is approximately equal to the theory.

- Some comments:

V out
 Before f reaches the cut-off frequency, the value increases from 0.
V¿

V out
 After the cut-off frequency, the value still goes up but starts to be stable
V¿
and close to 1.

 So the signal stable when f > cut-off frequency and weakened before that.
π
- The phase difference between V ¿ ∧V out is
4
Exercise 2:

a) Implementation of the RLC filter as shown in Figure 2

b) Phase difference between V R ,V L , V C ∧V

Using the figure above, after measuring in Multisim, we can see that:

At the time t=1s=60T:

−π
- Phase of V system :φ=
2
−π
- Phase of V R : φ R= so V R has the same phase as V system
2
π
- Phase of V L :φ L =0so V L has an earlier phase than V system by
2
π
- Phase of V C :φC =−π so V C has a later phase than V system by
2

After the measurement we can observe that the measured results align with the
theory => all properties regarding phase differences are accurately verified.

c) After changing the frequency of the voltage source V from 1 Hz to 10k Hz, we
can acclaimed that V R max ≈ 4.988 V at f =178 Hz

1
Theoretically, we have the resonant frequency f r= =177.94 Hz , so the
2 π √ LC
measurement is approximately to the theoretical result.
