Safety Survey Report For Old Yard (Port Marine Yard)
Safety Survey Report For Old Yard (Port Marine Yard)
Introduction:
The purpose of this safety survey is scanning the facility thru focusing on the built-in safety systems
in property & people to check its integrity and efficiency to ensure achieving the safety goals derived
from the vision & mission of company owners, stakeholders and interested parties.
The results of this survey will show the systems faults either in the facilities or the people who are
manning it.
The survey report will include some proposals as corrective actions required to rectify any detected
faults in the safety systems.
The survey will go to scan the following items:
Brief on Facility:
The Port Marine Yard (known internally within Zamil Shipyards as Old Yard) is a port facility / terminal
designed for marine industry. It contains ship-lift, workshops, stores, yards, buildings, stations, etc....
The Port Marine Yard as in the map below lays between two terminals / two facilities which are Zamil
Shipyard (known internally within Zamil Shipyards as New Yard) and Dammam Shipyard (known also
in the port authority as King Fahd Ship Repair Yard, also called Dammam Ship Repair Yard).
Please see the map below:
Port Marine Yard View
In Google Maps
As a facility working in marine industry, having workshops, stores, mobile equipment, fuel station,
etc... there are manufacturing processes, maintenance processes, services, and other kinds of works
that create Hazards generating risks.
It is normal that you find paints store, gas-cylinders store, oil drums store, it is normal that
manufacturing processes such as forming, machining, joining, coating, others, are taking place.
The most likely processes are the maintenance, where you find lubricating parts of a machine,
cleaning machine surfaces, making basic calibration adjustments, inspecting specific parts of a
machine, replacing basic machine components, and others.
Services such as cleaning, medical treatment, transportation & logistics, lines connections, checking
& inspections, materials supply, and others are normal to be found.
All the foregoing in addition to the hazards that are being created during tugs & pilotage operations
inside the port.
The safety management system of Zamil Shipyards has established the relevant JSA (Job Safety
Analysis), JHA (Job Hazard Analysis), RA (Risk Assessments), FRA (Fire Risk Assessments), and
others that identified in details all what has been mentioned above and has put the required control
measures to eliminate or reduce the associated risks.
General Safety, Security & Firefighting Capabilities in the Facility [Port Marine Yard]:
The safety survey comes on the following items for each location in the Port Marine Yard, as shown
in the form / figure below:
Knowing that all locations names have been printed according to the current safety & fire control plan
