THE MICROSCOPE
Objective: To be familiarized with the different parts of the microscope and the specific use of
each part., and to properly interpret what the human eye sees through various powers and
lighting conditions of the microscope.
Procedure: Place the glass slide on the stage right under the low power objective and secure
well using the stage clip. Adjust the mirror to reflect light through the specimen. Peep on the
eyepiece and try to locate the specimen by manipulating the course adjustment. Adjust the fine
adjustment for a clearer view of the specimen.
Observation:
1. Briefly describe the proper viewing of your specimen under the microscope.
Proper viewing of the specimen under the microscope involves securing the glass slide,
adjusting the mirror for optimal lighting, and using the course and fine adjustments to
locate and view the specimen clearly.
b. Body tube
Maintains the proper distance between the eyepiece and objective lenses.
c. Mirror
Reflects light through the specimen.
d. Fine adjustment
Allows precise focusing for a clearer view.
e. Course adjustment
Manipulates the stage for initial focusing.
h. Diaphragm
Controls the amount of light passing through the specimen.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, the proper use and understanding of microscope components are crucial
for effective specimen observation, and microscopes play a vital role in various aspects of crime
investigation by allowing detailed analysis of microscopic evidence.
