each.)

1. Why natural hazards are considered to be inevitable?

Natural hazards are inevitable because it is an unavoidable havoc wrecked by the unrestrained
forces of nature. Even when we are staying still, there’s a huge possibility of being potentially
harmed by unexpected threats. Moreover, human intervention can increase its frequency and
severity. In short, overcoming nature is beyond human control. While it stays true that natural
hazards are inevitable, their impacts can be surely mitigated by preventive measures, early
warnings, timely evacuation efforts, and prompt rescue services.

2. When does hazards happen?

Hazards happen when elements at risk are potentially exposed to danger. Human intervention
may have also caused hazards to occur where none existed before. One great example is
deforestation. Deforestation is the cutting of trees for the sake of advancement and urbanization
which results to increased risk for flooding, soil erosion, and drought. However, what could
have happened if people didn’t do such act? Then forests will continue to flourish whilst
preventing devastation to happen.

3. Why is the Philippines considered as an area prone to hazard?

Philippines has high vulnerability to hazards mainly because of the nation’s geographical
