Objectives of the Activity:


● To inspire and motivate students to pursue higher education and careers by showcasing
innovative and practical projects.
● To provide students with an opportunity to learn about the latest trends and technologies
in engineering and related fields.
● To guide students in choosing their career paths after PUC by providing them with
information on the various options available in medicine, engineering, and other fields,
as well as the skills and qualifications required for success in each area.
● To showcase the facilities and resources available at SJEC and to encourage students
to consider it as a potential destination for higher education.

Activity Conducted:
IEEE SJEC Student Branch and IEEE TEMS Society in association with AICTE IDEA Lab
conducted an outreach program on 19/11/2022 at Madeleine P U College, Kilpady, Mulki, DK
for 2nd PUC PCMB students (around 50 in total) on project exhibition and career guidance.

The topics covered were as follows:

● Project exhibition:
. Self-balancing robot
a. Obstacle avoidance
b. AI Mouse
c. Automatic irrigation system
d. Smart Helmet
e. Fruit cutter
f. Medicine dispenser

● Career guidance on opportunities after PUC in Medicine, Engineering and other fields.

● Facilities available in SJEC

This program was well appreciated by the students and faculty of the college.

The outreach program was coordinated by Ms Rupal M D D’Souza, Mr Prasad S M, and Ms


Deepthi S R, Asst. Professors, Department of ECE, SJEC, Mangaluru.

Learnings:
● Developed a sense of social responsibility and civic engagement by promoting STEM
education and career opportunities, and contributing to the development of a more
diverse, equitable, and inclusive society.
● Developed effective communication and presentation skills.
● Enhanced my knowledge and understanding of the various career paths and
qualifications in engineering, medicine, and related fields, and gained insights into the
current job market trends and demands.
● Strengthend my leadership and interpersonal skills by interacting with students and
faculty members, answering their questions, and providing guidance and support as
needed.
