Sub:- Operation and Maintenance of 2 X 1250 TPD ASU at NSL- Availability of Spares.

Dear Sir,
As you are aware know that the SMS and Blast furnace shops at NSL is in ramp-up of production mode and to achieve the
same, continuous and uninterrupted supply of product gases from oxygen plant i.e. Oxygen, Nitrogen and Argon shall be
ensured. Please note that out of two units of Oxygen plant only one unit is in operation and its continuous and smooth
operation requires spares availability at site. In this regards the following may please be noted;

1. Mechanical Seal of one of the two LOX IC pumps of ASU#2 is out of orders and needs replacement. As
such ASU is running with one LOX IC pump.
2. ASU#2 is running with only one LAR Transfer Pump as one pump is out of order during commissioning of
ASU#2.
3. The file for spares of Cryostar make Cryogenic pumps and expansions turbines was cleared by IRC on 02.06.2023
and further send to NSL HO on 16.08.2023 for placing order. It may please be noted that the PO for the same is yet
to be placed by NSL.
4. Chemical Dosing in cooling water system has not been done since December-2023 due to non-availability of
Chemicals and the same is yet to be ordered.
5. After cooler of Booster turbine is not working properly and temperature is increasing towards tripping
temperature ( 60oC). We are temporarily managing the temperature by external water cooling. Sealing kit requires
for the repair of after cooler is yet to be reached at site.

In absence of spares and consumables the operation of ASU is becoming difficult and causing production stoppage. Further,
MECON vide letter dated 22.01.2024 has already informed NSL regarding the above issues. Hence it is one again requested
that NSL shall ensure that the orders for the above spares shall be placed on priority otherwise production may hamper
severely in case of failures of equipment’s.
